If you really like a guy/girl but they have a horrible first name would this effect your decision on going out with them ? why/why not?

doesnt make a difference ... if i am dating someone ....... i am dating them for who they are, not what their name is

Unless their name sounds much like a guys name (Brandon, even Tony is iffy) then I'm alright.

But what if their name has really bad negative connotations? Like Adolf. Would you date someone named Adolf?

Weird names don't bother me... I might joke occasionally, but lovingly. I'd pretty much date a guy by any name... unless it was Chester or Lester. Those are too close to something else. Or if a guy had a woman's name... like Francis.
I'd even date someone named Rupert. |

This question you posed reminds me of that episode of Seinfeld when Elaine is dating that guy who she really likes except that he is named after one of the worst serial killers in all of NYC history so she tries to get him to legally change his name. It was something like Chuck Ripley. It sounded serial killer-ish.
I guess taking a lesson from that show, I would simply need to put it aside if I felt strongly enough for the person. It’s never a good idea to attempt to conform a significant other to what we need for them to be. |
