Topic: "I Need You" | |

I need you to hold.
Your love I will behold. I need your kiss. Just to know you exists. I need to see your face. Just to have your arms to embrace. I need you to love me. I will love you to the same degree. I need you at my side. My love I will never hide. I need you so much. To hold and to touch. I need you here. I love you dear. As I look above. I pray for your love. Come by my side and stand. And be my man. I need you today. This love is here to stay. |

Yikes because all that romance put down in words is frightening. Someone
once said that telling a woman that you love her when you are entwined in her arms and legs, kissing her passionately, is one thing. Sitting across the table holding her hand and looking into her eyes and telling her you love her is another. They are both showing levels of commitment and even to some degree vulnerability, but the second case is really invites an unscrupulous lover to take unfair advantage of your devotion. So unless you have known the person a very long time and developed a relationship through the years, any such talk falls into one of several undesirable categories. First one is the sap category, I prefer not to explain that one, second is the disingenuous category, opposite of sap, but someone who hopes to gain advantage by professing love, third is someone who simply throws their love around frivolously, which might indicate that the words were not sincere, or that they person might have similar love for several people. So love is great, and important, but getting there is difficult, and looking at serious words like that in a poem can easily remind one of the troubles with getting to such a state as well as the dangers of giving your heart too early and too fully. Or perhaps I just miss the point and simply see the thorns when I look at a rose. It was a nice poem though. Grins. |
