In The Bible : “revelations” tells about the end of the world and those that believe in god, when the rapture comes, they will be taken away from the destruction of the Earth, while that those who don’t accept Christ as their savior, will perish.

With the way the world is now, do you think revelations is coming true?

I believe in revelations. Maybe the Earth needs a fresh start.

Any comments?

You want the truth?

I think the whole religion was increasingly designed to make people fear that if they don't convert to it something terrible will happen to them.

It started out that people were simply supposed to obey Gods rules. But then it ended up being that if you don't believe in the religion you will suffer for it.

Personally I'm completely convinced that it's nothing more than manmade propaganda to try to get people to obey the authority of the church. Historically the churches were the seat of power. Even when Kings ruled, much of that ruling was done through the church.

If you spoke out against the church you were labeled a blasphemist or a heretic and would face rejection by your society at best, and death or bodily injury at worse.

That God those days are over. All that's left now is the aftermath of that terrible beast, and it's swiftly dying.

In only a few centuries the church has fallen from the very seat of power to a completely voluntary means of 'worship'.

Governments have broken free from religion. Many are actually democracies. Today religion is viewed as a personal choice in free countries.

Do I believe that God will come and destroy the world and all the non-believers in Christianity?

No, not in the least. That's ancient superstiton. It's not going to happen.

But look at how powerful the oppression and brainwashing was!

Those old religions still have people running around today believing in them. Judism, Islam, Christianity. Those myths really had a deep impact on humanity, there's no doubt about it.

I don't believe them for a second. As far as I'm personally concerned they have been disproved beyond even a shadow of a doubt. There's nothing left to believe. Why anyone continues to believe in them is beyond me. They are clearly false just in their very own self-inconsistences. They can't be true.

There's nothing to fear but fear itself.

Besides, what good is a religion that has people fearing their creator anyway?

Does revelations really say that? Where? Does Revelations really talk about "the rapture?" Would you mind quoting the exact scripture with verse number please?

By "perish" do you mean die? huh

What do you mean by "with the way the world is now?"
How is the world now according to you?

Yeah really. What's wrong with the world?

Today's world is extremely peaceful compared to the way it was during WWI and WWII. Not to mention the Korean war and Vietnam. The situation in Iraq isn't good, but it's nowhere near as bad as Vietnam was. At least not in body counts.

People often talk about how the world is so evil, but they just get that impression from watching the news all the time.

In truth, about 90% of the world's population is peaceful. Only about 10% of the population is actually involved in crimes, wars, and natural disasters combined.

Compare that with the biblical fact that 33% of God's angels turned against him in his heaven. Evidently Earth is a safter place to be than heaven. flowerforyou

People talk about how bad the world is. But it just isn't true. It's in their mind. They just don't have a grasp of the actual numbers and percentages. They just look at the news and see all the bad stuff being reported.

If the news actually reported human activity giving equal time to good and bad events based on the actaul percentage of people involved in those events, an hour-long newscast would only contain 6 minutes of bad reporting, including crimes, wars, and natural disaters combined, and the other 54 minutes of the newscast would be all nice stuff. bigsmile

But that's not the way newscasts work. They perfer to report almost all the bad stuff that's happening and seldom report normal good stuff. Normal good stuff just isn't considered to be 'news' because it's the NORM!!!

The world is an amazingly peaceful and loving place actually.

People try to make it out like it's a terrible place, but its not.

The world's OK, but not all that great. We focus on materialism rather than the spiritual. we're driven by lust rather than the spiritual and that leads to the breakdown of marriages, abuse, and all types of perversion. As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be now. There's violence all over TV. We worship the false idols of celebrity. Look at who we're holding up as examples! Ugh.

I liked JB's comments:

Revelations itself doesn't talk about a rapture specifically, I think. The Rapture is a bit of conjecture based on verses elsewhere in the New Testament talking about believers being caught up in the air to meet the Lord. Revelations talks about believers being taken off the earth before a period of great strife called the tribulation.

By "perish" do you mean die?

By "perish" it is meant death, both physical and spiritual. As if the tribulation won't be bad enough, the Bible repeatedly warns about spiritual death, seperation from God and evildoers and those who don't accept the Lord being cast into a Lake of Fire (THAT is in Revelations).

What do you mean by "with the way the world is now?"
How is the world now according to you?

With the way the world is now is explained above. We've twisted a lot of the pleasures the Lord has given us for our own demented reasons. Pleasure can be used for good, the way God intended, or for other purposes and we, as humans, are left to bear the consequences. The dillema is, which way will we chose? The Lord's left us with the choice to accept his way or not and that's the choice left to all of us.

I know enough about it to know the signs...but I really don't get into it... it's really for my own info & not something I would use to bring people to God.

I see many like to argue or debate specifics but I just mostly like to share my faith with people.
