I don't mind helping, but yeah, never seems like I get much help when it's my turn. I guess it's just too much effort for something that doesn't directly benefit them for some folks.

I think it's wrong that your friends won't help in the first place, to be honest. Maybe offer beer and or dinner?

helping other people move? because not only do you have to help them move the stuff but than you have to help with placing the stuff where they want it in their new place.it is very exhausting!

Some people hate, not everyone though, it's best to find friends that never pass up an opportunity to help someone move and never forget to always offer up pizza and beer. Every time I help someone move we end up having a good time of it, there's camaraderie in something like that, everyone there pitched in and there's nothing like physical exertion shared by a group to bring people together.
