Topic: Words of Endearment | |

People use words of endearment all the time just to be friendly and polite. Some only use it with there partner. Some use it while flirting with others.
My question is, with them being used to often, how do you know what a person is really interested in you and are using the words in the right way? Or when they are just being friendly? How do you tell the difference? |

How do you tell the difference? Well Babe this babe that..is just words of endearment to get somethign from you..ha ha..I think if they are used more frequently they are prolly not sincere..Now if they throw in "Muffin" or "Cutiepie" in the middle of that mix..or they just bust out w/ that..they may actually mean it. So good rule is repetitive, prolly not sincere..and out of the blue..they prolly mean it. One guy once told me that he calls women baby or babe, when he forgot their name..lol |

Well, sweetie, you just have to decipher the meaning given the context of the situation, sugar.
For example, honey-pie, if someone is just responding to a post on a thread and use some lame term like "baby", you might want to rethink the sincerity of the term, sugarplum. But, if it's in an email in which a person is making a concerted effort to know you, darling, it might be a wee bit more meaningful...especially if they can come up with something original, like "donut hole", babydoll. It's really based on intuition, lovie. |

In the south words of endearment are used all the time. I use them quite frenquently myself. I find no harm in calling someone Hun or Dear. I will address a child as Baby. I think that here in the south it's just that, a form of endearment meant to make the person you are using it with feel good.

If you talk to this one person a lot see how often they switch up the names and if they have a set bank of names that they use, if they think up new ones then it is probably sincere. But what do I know? I am just a guy!
