It is all about the service. I ought to know...I'm a waitress. You can also do the best service and still get a wimpy tip. I think the biggest tips come from drunk customers. Had a few of those.

Its all about the service (but your right chick drunks do tip better and sometimes twice if they forget the first time im a bartender lol)

I'm a server....it seems like the busiest days when I can't do everything I normally would yield the highest percentage of tips. I keep the books so I see my sales versus what I earned in tips, the percentage seems to be higher when I'm busiest. We hired a new girl, a little on the chubby side and she doesn't really do herself up like the rest of us...some of our regular customers have actually complained about her. I know she can't be doing that bad of a job because she has this teeny tiny section so either her attitude sucks or they just aren't used to her. All I know is she is making 2 dollar tips on 20 and 30 dollar checks from what I see on credit card receipts.

Attitude goes a long way. agreed! when I first started waitressing someone left a big tip, I kind of argued with him about it and he said he left it because I never stopped smiling...since then I try to keep it all smiles! it really does go a long way...
