What does everyone love about Oklahoma!
I love the weather most of the time :-/ The small yet big feel I get in most of the major cities! and the people! |

Here's what I love about Oklahoma:
I was thoroughly cleaning out my pantries one day, blinds, etc...ya know, Spring cleaning...anyways, my three year old daughter got away from me! About an hour later I am looking for her in her room where I had left her and she was nowhere to be found! I am panicking right about now calling everyone, running around yelling outside, etc...when all of the sudden, here comes a teenager from across the road, thankfully he was home from school on lunch, anyways he said she had came over naked, with just a pair of panties on? So he put a shirt on her, and gave her an OSU basketball [he had to get this pun in too because he knew we were big OU fans and he will be playing for OSU this fall], and a toy crown. I was so thankful...immediately called one of my best gf's and told her, she assured me that this happens to everyone. The next day she called me in tears, I asked what was wrong and she proceeded to tell me how thankful we should be to live in this state, because we do always gripe about it, but she was driving to work and had to pull over to cry for a second thinking about what could possibly happen to our children if we lived in a larger city and they ran off. Sorry to ramble, and I know there are crazies everywhere, but this is a pretty decent state...We have good people, and contrary to people's beliefs...we're not all redneck, hillbilly, or incest. If people would do their freakin' research, they will learn that actually, the vast majority of us are NATIVE AMERICAN. This is one of the many reasons I LOVE Oklahoma! I guess you would have to move off to appreciate it. BOOMER SOONER! |

That has to be one of the most moving stories I have heard in a long time!
Thank you for sharing! The people in Oklahoma never stop surprising me! |

I agree with Cinda and glad to hear your little girl is okay. We do have wonderful people in Oklahoma. I moved away for 16 years and as much as I enjoyed living in SC, I always wanted to come back home to Oklahoma. I am proud to be a Native American and I'm proud to live in Oklahoma again. I wasn't born in OK, but spent all my life in Oklahoma. My family roots are in Oklahoma and Kansas and I have pride in my heritage.
Smiling Faces and Beautiful Places (hope that is the correct way, will have to look at my old car tag lol, but we had that in South Carolina but Oklahoma could also be known for that too. We are just as friendly here as they are there and we have some wonderful places to visit too. Wonderful lakes and scenery. I also missed the open spaces out here while I was living out there. As my dad always called this part in Green Country in Northeastern Oklahoma... This is God's Country. |

I must admit it takes a certain appreciation and maturity to understand that living here is incredible...I do hear people griping and moaning to leave, again...it's mainly folks who have never been out of the state to live elsewhere, and that's understandable...on the other hand, have no clue what's wrong with the other's who can't stand it here! Excellent place to raise a family, reasonable cost of living, and though we are all affected by the government these days, you have to admit it hasn't affected OUR economy as a state drastically, YET. |

I have to agree with you cindacollins. I grew up in the Air Force so I got to live many places. But Oklahoma has been the one that has felt most like home, I do not see myself leaving here anytime soon if ever!
And I also agree that the economy in oklahoma has not taken a big hit yet and I hope it will not! |

I love the Oklahoma’s outdoors. We have rivers, mountains, lakes, forest, desert... you name it we have it. I also like the weather, how many other states can you have snow on Christmas Eve and a 70 degree Christmas day.
