Both of my cats wear collars. One will actually go out on a leash. He doesn't walk much, though. It's more like walking a little.. rolling around on the ground.. playing with sticks.. repeat. The other won't go out at all.

lol E**** you have one lazy cat and the other is anti-sociallaugh

he's not lazy... it's more like he has add and gets distracted by every single thing he sees outside. the other one is antisocial. the only time he comes out to see other people is if i'm gone and someone is feeding him for me. otherwise, he hates everyone but me. laugh

I had a male cat at one time and he had been fixed young before he even got into the spraying. But yet he still pissed all over everything. He would piss on company's coats if he could get to them. Hence I no longer have male cats and never will again. I now have 3 female Siamese cats and they are all Divas if anyone is familiar with this breed, then you know what I mean.
Only advice I can give you is to keep a really good cleaner specifically formulated for male cat urine handy at all times.
Best of luck!

All the time.

Moondark, sorry to say,get used to the fighting and mood swings. Cats are nocturnal, they need to get out at night (whether they are fixed or not)!!

Its their natural instinct.

Think of it like this, how would you like to be couped up all day looking at the same faces. Tensions can rise. I know you love your cats and I understand the situation you are in. Apartment Block. Yes? You can actually walk a cat much like a dog. There is a process. You must get collars on them. Then get the leash and start walking around the house with them and when they are used to that, head outside with them on the leash preferably at night but daytime will suffice if your area is dangerous at night. They will thank you for it!!

Best wishes!!

Edit/ They are males. Yes? The problem with the urinating is they are trying to mark out the others territory but this normall quits after been fixed but it may take up to a year after. They will still go through the motion but wont let out any urine and if they do occasionaly, that foul smell should not be present.

I think they are frustrated Moondark.

Hope this helps.

1. I know a lot about cats. Read books, friends with a former breeder, and had them all my life. I know why they are doing it. They are brothers and never established a pecking order. This major pissing war has only happened twice.

2. They have been fixed for about 5 years now. They are about 6 years old.

3. I don't live in an area suitable for them to go outside. The Old Market in Omaha. Not happening.

4. I moved. Cats don't take moves well. I agree, they are frustrated. Even the one that would never play before has taken to playing. The perfect cat toy, a buggy whip. They jump all over the place trying to catch it.
