Topic: What movie changed your life? | |
---|---|
What I mean is, what movie had a big impact on you and kind of made you look at life differently or changed your life in some way?
For me it was "The Elephant Man". It was based on the true life story of John Merrick who had a very bad disfigurement (sp?). Us humans can be very cruel!! Your turn!! |

The Shawshank Redemption- I had a friend who described this film as "just another prison movie". He totally did not get what this movie was about, and that is this movie is all about "hope". Andy Dufrane never loses his hope that he will get out of prison, despite the fact he was wrongfully accused, and that he goes through hell while in their. But in the end, he wins, all because he would not let Shawshank beat him.
Life is that way. You can never lose hope in life. If you do, then you already lost, and you will miss out on something great. This film taught me that. |

Y'all are going to think I'm nuts but for me it was Star Wars 3. I was 14 when I saw it in the movie theater. I don't know what or why it happened or even how it happened, but for some reason after I watched that movie, I discovered my coping mechanism (rather keep what it is to myself) to help me deal with a horrific tragedy that I was going through at that time. Since then, it has been the first thing I do when dealing with a difficult time in my life.

My fav movie -- it also shows the depths of friendship, no matter what race, color or walk of life you are. There is a need for true friends! |

I listed 72 films on my blog about a year ago that are important to me. http://www.fifteenkey.com/2007/07/72films.html
I think they all change our life subtly because they change our perspective. We become a mosaic of all our experiences, but if I had to pick just one... Jaws - I'm still not crazy about swimming in the ocean because of Sir Stevie and that damn fake shark. |

Ps you are correct, it is not "Just another prison film". I did not see it till 2007, believe it or not. Amazing film, amazing cast, amazing dialouge, pure and utter genius. Full stop!!! |
