It's A Gift - after watching this one I had to watch and eventually collect all of W.C. Fields films. Pure Genius.
So much amusement.

Horsefeathers - the first Marx Bros. movie I ever watched.

You Can't Take It With You - Lionel Barrymore

Grand Hotel - also Lionel Barrymore laugh

Casablanca

The 39 Steps, The Lady Vanishes - Hitchcock

well i could go on all day....they influenced me all of them
with their beauty, charm and wit...

Karate Kid

Ok, ok... was young, nerdy and tired of getting bullied. This one has the nerdy kid beating up the bullies AND getting the girl. I was too young to care about small details like.... say... acting.

PLATOON - Platoon is a 1986 Vietnam war film written and directed by Oliver Stone and starring Charlie Sheen, Tom Berenger, Willem Dafoe, Forest Whitaker, Kevin Dillon, Keith David, John C. McGinley, and Johnny Depp. It is the first of Stone's Vietnam War trilogy, followed by Born on the Fourth of July (1989) and Heaven & Earth (1993).

It was a cathartic experience watching it for me and a lot of other Vietnam Vets.

"My Life" with Nicole Kidman and Michael Keaton. About a man who is diagnosed with a fatal disease, wants to film his life and teach his soon to be born son about life on his video. Thought it was a sign to marry my second husband. Not.... but it certainly changed my life!!

I certainly didn't relate the same way you did, but I was very moved by Full Metal Jacket.

Platoon is a well protrayed movie. One other I liked was the inspiring "Hamburger Hill".

I have nothing against chick flicks. I am an avid true story watcher. Truemovies 24 is a channel I would highly reccomend to all movie buffs!!!!!
