If the crime fits the punishment, absolutely. An eye for an eye I say.
Why should we let them live in a "hotel Like" prison at the tax payer's
expense.

While I doubt that most prisons are anything like a "hotel" I would
say that murderers, rapists, and the like deserve little more than a
quick death.

I worked for several years at a state prison in N.C. I believe that the
inmates had more rights and comforts that I did.

Mahaskins you have the right idea, i have to agree with you. I had alot
of trouble agreeing with the death penalty, but then i look at the
greiving family members, and cant even imagine someone harming my fam. I
get heated and i guess i could imagine putting someone to there death.

he was a king of ancient Babalon. But I think there are crimes which
should carry the death penalty and executions should take place within
90 days of sentencing, not decades later.

Personally, I believe the witness stand (chair) should double as an
electric chair and, soon as the judge renders a guilty verdict, the
baliff throws the switch.

Of course, this will entirely do away with the appeals process so, in
the event the accused is actually innocent...oh, well. Win some, lose
some, right?

Death for some crimes is appropriate. However, any death imposed by a
govt is plain wrong. So, if a jury found a person guilty of a crime
warranting the death-sentance, the *act* of injecting the needle should
be left to the family of the victim.

When a govt gets in the business of legalized murder, its civillians who
get killed.

I completely disagree...well, maybe not completely. While I do think the
victim's family certainly has the "right" to dole out the final
judgment, the "government" in death penalty cases *is* "the people;" the
jury represents the interests of the victim's family and (theoretically,
anyway) renders its verdict based entirely upon the evidence presented
and not upon suspicion and vigilante justice.

Impartiality and objectivity pretty much flies right out the window with
regard to the victim's family or friends rendering the verdict or meting
the punishment.

I think with current state of prisons having a huge popluation it won't
be long before we have a damn Running Man show going on or maybe a
Battle Royale.

If you were the one that handed down the death sentence on a person, and
look him in the eye while you sentenced him to death.................

I do believe for certain crimes it is appropriate and don't believe
inmates on death row should be given an endless supply of appeals. I
would give them one appeal, have them get all their evidence and proof
and have their one appeal, if they lose, then it is over.

I worked in the prison system for 17 years and read some awful stuff and
there are people in there that are a waste of oxygen, in my opinion. I
don't agree with housing them on death row and giving them 8 and 10
appeals with the government paying a million bucks for each appeal.

But, I also feel they have a right to an appeal because there have been
cases of innocent people being convicted and everyone should have a
chance to try to prove their innocence and do it with their appeal.
Look how many people have been released from death row with DNA evidence
that has come forward sometimes 20 years later.
