I just started a new job doing sales, so I want to ask. What makes you buy something off a sales person? besides what they are selling.huh

I know this won't be much help, but I can't stand when someone bugs me to buy something, so I haven't ever bought anything from a sales person.

Anyways, good luck with your job! :)

You have to convince them that they need it. That they will benefit from whatever it is you are selling them.

They need to feel that they can trust that you are looking out for their best interests.

Know your product

If they don't follow me around like a shark, I'm more likely to go find the first one that greeted me when I came in. I like to take my time and look around without feeling like they are taking every step I am.

Know what you're talking about and what type of person you're dealing with. Don't lie or make **** up- they'll know it. Get them to drop their guard by talking about something besides the sale- get them to like you.

if you are friendly, courteous, knowledgeable and show a real interest in helping them obtain the best choice for their situation then they will want to interact with you and give you their business.

if you can present at least 3 advantages that one of your product/service has over the competing product/service then it will be a strong selling point for choosing the option you offer.

1. affability
2. availability
3. ability

in that order.

Greet them....ask them if there is anything you can help them with...if they say no...say well make yourself at home.....watch them from a distance.........give them about 15 minutes.... then go back to them and ask them if you can help them now.....if they say yes.....then sell them the product.....know your product inside and out.....don't over kill.....after some sale pitching....excuse yourself....give them some more time.....and then go back to them and ask them if there is anything else you can help or if they have anymore questions you can help them with ...I don't know what you're selling....I use to be in carpet sales.....it is great and you have to have the gift of gab.....not only sell them the product but make them feel like you are thier friend.....
