Did you know that American Base Ball is the only pro sport that realized mistakes are normal and does not penalize players for making mistakes. Kind of interest don't you think?

Be interesting if they got penalized for errors. Few hundred thousand per error should cut down on them considerably!

But unlike hockey...not penalty box. Unlike football no extra base. Or basketball where you can fall out. It is like they expect/accept the human factor.

Oh yes...no trip to Missouri. sad2 Would e-mail you but don't meet your guidelines.

I sincerely wish you and Angel the best.

They sometimes can be sort of penalized for a mistake, like if a guy throws the ball into the dugout, an extra base is awarded to the batter and or runners. Also on a balk, runners advance so that's another one. Pitchers can be penalized a ball if they take too long too, when no one is on base. It's rare but it happens. So there are some penalizations on errors.

Beyond that though, the errors often do cost the team anyway, as a lot of times those mistakes lead to runs. May not be an official penalty, but close enough.

Yes they do record the errors...but there is not Official Penalty other than what happens because of the error.

I think it's important to distinguish between penalties and errors here. In football, if you jump offsides, you are breaking the rules and your team is penalized. If you balk on the mound in baseball (which requires that there be at least one runner on base), your team will be penalized.

Errors are a different story. If you make an error as either a football player or a baseball player, your team is probably going to suffer a setback in terms of winning the game because of it.
