Debbie, If she does this all of the time, I'm surprised that her parents don't have her wearing big-kid pull-ups. That saves on washing bed lines everyday and she doesn't have to sleep in the wetness. she just leaks through them, and we dont want to revert her back to that. thanks for the advice My child used them until 9 yrs. old. No leaking. The leaking might be due to the brand. Another thing that could help is to wake the child and have them to go the bathroom when you go to bed. we use pampers which is the best brand in the uk. she does big wees, and she leaked out of them when she was still in nappys. she has a wee before bed, and my sister gos to bed with her then you see. she sleeps very deeply, maybe thats why she isnt waking up to go for a wee?? Different brands fit differently. My child's urologist did say that my child was a deep sleeper and advised the waking up of the child to go when I went to bed. One good thing, Deb. They do outgrow it. The bladder enlarges and the nerves that send the messages to the brain and tell them that they need to go mature. It is rare for an adult to have this problem. My child quit around 9.5 yrs. old. The main thing is not to give it too much attention. Oh, well, it's just another day. |

No, the reaction was not embarrassed. She was crying hysterically and screaming for me and her father to help her. I would classify that as Scared.

Its not uncommon for children as old as 10 to wet the bed. In a normal instance, children should definetely stop wetting the bed in around 3 but no later. A child that wets the bed at a later age may have attention defecit disorders or anxiety issues. It would definetly be worth googling the web on this issue as you will recieve lots of helpful information.
Good Luck. Ps If the child is left in the dark (no light left on at bedtime) the fear of the dark may make it happen. I know that sounds a little stupid but some children have a fear of the dark even when in deep R.E.M [Rapid Eye Movement= Deepest point of sleep}. |
