"If my people
which are called by my name
shall humble themselves
and PRAY
and seek my face
and turn from their wicked ways

then will I hear from heaven
and will forgive their sin
and will heal their land." -2nd Chronicles 7:14

Notice ... God's Word said to PRAY, not to Hate , or to Destroy, or to Do Battle ourselves....

but to PRAY.
 Some would say that if you love your fellow man you will tell him that what he is doing is a sin. As far as I am aware no one has had violence done to them by the Phelps family rather the Phelps are the recipients of violence.flowerforyou

Perhaps they cause no physical violence to others, but it cannot be denied that they have caused insurmountable pain and suffering. To protest the funerals of soldiers, homosexuals, and so many others is unforgivable in my eyes. They have told mourning families who are already in pain that their loved ones are going to hell for defending our country or loving someone of the same gender.

These are sick, twisted people who seem to enjoy causing others pain. And it's disgusting that they drag their children along with them and put them in potential danger.

They should go on with their own lives and seek to praise their Lord, rather than attacking the "faults" of others.
flowerforyou Have you met them?flowerforyou Do you know Fred, Shirley or Margie ?flowerforyou

No, I have not met them, but I would like to. Not to attack them, either. I simply want to talk to them and try to understand their mindset, because as of now, I have no respect for what they do.

The fact that they go around and disturb mourning families at funerals does not sit well with me. If there is a time and a place for criticizing the lives of others, this is certainly not it.

And to blame all wars, murders, natural disasters, etc. on people who just happen to be attracted to those of the same gender... that's just beyond me.

I think the only people I am as diametrically opposed to in this entire world besides the Phelps clan are the terrorists of Al-Queda. I have absolutely no respect for them at all, and I am heartened that there are plenty of Christians that oppose them. I may not be one, but I am certainly pleased with the outrage by Christians towards these people.

Westboro Baptist Church have as much to do with Christianity as Modonna is a Jew. Westboro use the scriptures to support a doctrine of hate, their claims to being Christians do not deserve even a moments respect. They deserve our pity for being locked in the chains of their hatefilled doctrine, but their beliefs and opinions have no earned my respect.

Interestingly enough, from another poste, Spider also said:

The Holy Spirit tailors Christianity to your strengths and weaknesses. When someone feels that Christianity shouldn't include dancing, he goes out and founds his own church based on that belief. Maybe others believe the same way and they seek out his church. Some of the people who join that church come to the belief that there is nothing wrong with dancing, so they move on to another church. Some of the congregation believe that not only is dancing a sin, but eating pork is a sin too. So they start a new church, which doesn't allow dancing or eating pork. That's not to say that Christians aren't supposed to eat pork or dance, but minor doctrinal issues like that aren't really important. They are covered in Romans 14.

I sort of like his idea about the "whatever you BELIEVE to be sin IS a sin for you." I guess that's a very accepting answer to the homosexual community, especially those who DON'T believe they are committing a sin, and have enough poeple who like wise believe to create many large congregations.

But NOW how do we get those who believe a sin for them is a sin for everyone, TO STOP that belief, - poeple like the Phelp charachter and his groupies? I mean if there is a religious organization out there who believes that assigning sin is their job and browbeating those who have been so assigned is necessary then I, for one, would much rather see an end to ALL RELIGION then to risk such behavior from the civil and social creature we continue to evolve into being.

Redykeulous,

It's not my idea, it's what is taught by Romans 14. I am afraid that you got the wrong impression. Romans 14 doesn't allow one to pick and choose your sins. Homosexuality is clearly called a sin in several places in the Bible, that's an unavoidable fact. That doesn't mean that homosexuals are bad people or that homosexuals are bound for hell, after all, everyone in heaven is a sinner.

Romans 14 applies to issues which aren't clear in general or to the individual. Dancing, food laws, sabbath laws, sprinkle vs dunk...basically minor doctrinal issues.

Spider, I feel for you my friend.

Why did you expose yourself so?!?!?

'... I DON'T !!!...' you wrote to the question about twisting the bible.

Couldn't you pass your turn? Could you not just have held back?

That's like someone going around thinking and claiming he has found THE TRUTH!!!

OF COURSE HE'S GOING TO BE ADMINISTERED A REALITY CHECK SOONER OR LATER!!!

And now you've got to thank 'redykeulous' for her generous contribution, and reality check.

She has done what few people do nowadays, ... selflessly putting others face to face with their sins.

Sins that are impossible for one to see, if it weren't for people like 'Redy', selflessly pointing it out to them with such clarity that the sinners ask for redemption on the spot.

Redy, your alruistic dispositions, and clarity of purpose, never cease to amaze me.

Voileazur,

I'm sorry to disappoint you, but there will be no fireworks between us. I'm not going to argue with you or let you bait me into anger. I don't know which is more childish, your baiting or my accepting the bait. But I digress.

Tribo made a statement which I found to be fallacious "everyone bend's the bible to their belief". Everyone? Even people who haven't seen or heard of the Bible? Even one day old babies? On the surface his post was fallacious. But let's look at my response: "I don't". It's the truth. I have defended, with scriptures, defintions, context and arguments, my beliefs. You and many others have tried your best to poke holes into my beliefs. I haven't twisted the Bible in the least, because I know to do so and post it on these forums would not only be wrong but possibly damning. Since I don't like to be wrong and I would hate to be damned, I don't twist the Bible.

If Tribos statement is true, then both you and Redykeulous twist the Bible to your own purposes. By your appearant support for Tribos comment, can I take that as an admission to twisting the Bible to suit your own purposes? I can honestly say that I don't do so.

As to Redykeulous comments, I already pointed out how her observation was incorrect.

Welcome back and I hope you find peace.
