Topic: Faith versus Imagination | |
---|---|
Can Faith be nothing more then a wide range of imaginating?
Or is imagination different then faith? I ask for many have faith but cannot explain why they have it yet some use theories from scriptures as concrete evidence, yet could it just be the imagination that we perceive to be true instead. What are your thoughts on imagination and faith? |

I believe that it's a mixture of the lack of education when most religions were "created" and the need for leadership during that time.
Now it's just sort of turned into a cult type gathering for people who can not deal with their problems without something to lean on. Good or bad. This is my opinion. |

My opinion. Faith is taught and imagination is natural. Do they cross paths, of course, imagination actually makes teaching of faithbased beliefs easier. Also feeding into a persons persoanl desires and fears helps the faithbased teachings.

I'm assuming you mean Faith in God, Smiless.
According to scripture, Faith Comes By Hearing and Hearing by the Word of God. Notice, it did not just say, Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. Faith Comes By Hearing And Hearing By the Word of God. Meaning, how can one Hear, unless the Word is Being Preached. `````` Imagination Is of the Soulish Realm. The Mind. Thoughts, Creative Ideas, Inventions,Imagination.....what a brilliant Mind God created in man also. Imagination is not Faith. Faith is Believing with Childlike Trust...and it come from the heart ( the Spirit). But it involves hearing, also. Faith is the Substance of Things Hoped For and the Evidence of Things Not Seen. Without Faith , it is Impossible to Please God. Have Faith in God . ![]() |

What are your thoughts on imagination and faith? faith is the lack of imagination or the unwillingless or incapability to venture think or imagine beyond a certain realm or point ...if faith was due to imagination then why can't one imagine a way not to need faith .... |

Faith Comes By Hearing And Hearing By the Word of God. Meaning, how can one Hear, unless the Word is Being Preached. If this is true then clearly the Bible can't be the word of God. The proof is simple. There are many men who have studied the Bible, believeing that it was the word of God, only to discover that it has nothing to offer but contradictions and in many cases, outright lies. Lies due to the fact that it states one thing in one place and then it goes on to either, state the complete opposite in another place, or to contradict it's previous statements via the stories it tells. One thing that you may not realize is that I was a devout Christian at one point in my life. I studying the Bible believing without the slightest doubt that it was indeed the word of God. After all my very own mother told me it was the word of God, why should I doubt my very own mother? I was also taught by my church that the Bible contains answers to all questions. I don't know the Bible itself actually claims that, but the clergy at my church taught me that this was indeed the case. I believed them too. After all I was still quite young. I had no reason to believe that people dressed in fine clothes with smiles on their face would be lying to me. I also had no reason to believe that they simply had no clue what they were talking about. I had faith in more than just God. I had faith in humanity too at that point in my life. I thought that people knew what they where talking about. Well it truns out that they didn't know what they were talking. The Bible not only doesn't contain answers, but it creates such contradictory scenarios that even well-educated scholars who have been studying theology for their entire lives can't even explain or justify it. The very fact that religions can't even get along is proof that no one understands it. No one. Not a single solitary human on the face of this planet can understand the Bible because it doesn't contain answers, and it doesn't make sense. It was in fact, HEARING this supposed "word of God" in depth that has convinced me beyond any shadow of a doubt that it can't possible be from any divine being. This supposed "word of God" cannot be from a all-wise, all-loving, all-powerful, all-knowing, all-perfect supreme being because there is nothing all-wise or all-perfect about it! In fact, it's riddled with terrible inconsistencies and contradictions. There NO ANSWERS in the Bible to the real question. They only "answers" that are in the Bible are answers to questions like "What does God want from me?" And even those answers are extremely ambigious and contradictory. God wants us not to kill, but at the same time he wants us to stone our unruly children to death. And that directive has never been revoked. The reason that I'm so well-versed on the Bible is because I have studied it in depth. And so if what you say is true then I should be one of the most faithful people on earth. I've come to the conclusion for a myriad of reasons that the Bible cannot possibly be the word of God. As far as I'm concerned the evidence that it can't be the word of God is so overwhelming that it's been proven beyond any shadow of a doubt to necessarily be false. If there is a God it can't be the one that's described in the Bible. The deity described in those stories doesn't have the traits that it's supposed to have. Its lack of wisdom in particular is atrocious. We can only pray that God isn't like the Bible says. And yes, we can still pray. Just because ancient men made up lies about God doesn't mean that God doesn't exist. It simply means that men lie about God. But we already know that. People like about God every day. They claim to know stuff that they honestly don't know. That's basically lying for all intents and purposes. |

depends what you mean by "faith"
Faith = Religion - does not need imagination Faith = unsubstatiated belief is imagination Faith = confidence in the provable is real ![]() |

Abra, there is a BIG difference between believing God ,just because you were taught to believe God.....
versus.... believing in God ON YOUR OWN....cause you yourself have FAITH to believe. The devil believes in Jesus too, and TREMBLES. |
|
|
|
Abra...go read the Parable of the Sower again. Why bother? I already know what it says. I'm fully aware of what the doctrine attempts to teach. I even understand the motives behind why much of it was written and twisted into what it has become today. I could read it a billion times and that's not going to change. On the contary, the more I read it the more convinced I am that of what it is (and what it isn't). Once you've seen the Wizard of Oz pulling the levers, you're not going to return your attention to fake Godhead that it's pretending to run. |

The devil believes in Jesus too, and TREMBLES. Why would he be trembling? According to the book of Job the devils asks God for permission before he does anything. So evidently the devil isn't sinning anyone since he always has God's permission. Sin is disobedience to God. Evidently, according to the book of Job, Satan asks God for permission. Onec God gives his permission to do something then it's not a sin. So Satan isn't even as sinner as far as we can tell. He's asks God for permission before he does anything. |

God is Just Waiting on You to Come to Him Abra.
God has been with me every moment of my life since the day I was born. It's impossible to be seperated from God. In order to do that you'd need to become a God in your own right. |

We can't know everything or how everything works.
Faith is maintaining calm in the face of chaos knowing that everything happens for a reason. Faith is accepting the things we cannot change, changing the things we can and knowing how to tell the difference. Faith is accepting what is without complaining. Faith is realizing that you are not the micro manager of the entire universe. Faith is letting go of your perceived control of other people in your life. Jeannie |

Not through the mouthings of some other Nor does it come from the ink of a printing press. God has no need of these things as the holy spirit can open any ear. |
