I have different opinons about different things... sometimes it depends
on my mood (on those I try not to post about LOL) But mostly I am just
myself.... *S*

I really understand what you are saying Morena, that is the reason I
left jsh for awhile.. I was so tired of being lied to and when you let
yourself open up and you think maybe I am finally there and have found
someone they slam the door in your face and then you are right back
where you started and more full of doubt about yourself as a person...
It is not us that get walked on that need to look at ourselves it is
those that are heartless enough to do it.. And how do you protect
yourself, never get involved again, no that is not the answer we just
have to stay open to trust and hope and have faith for the best.

Mo, I have thought about this topic a lot, because it has been an issue
for me (several times!), and to other people I know.

And there's really no clear-cut, 100% foolproof solution. Because
deceptive people can be really good at being deceptive, and, over time,
they learn how to cover their tracks so that it becomes more and more
difficult to see past the facade.

A pic doesn't prove anything, necessarily; it might be them, it might
not be. There's a girl on one of the other sites who is using a
well-circulated pic of Hilary Duff, and claiming it's her. Most of the
fake pic users are not quite that clueless.

I think the best thing any of us can do is to BE CAREFUL and never rush
into anything. Although it can be exciting and fun when you find
someone on line, and start talking to them, and you start to learn more
about them, you can't tell at that point, how much of what you're seeing
is really them, and how much is strictly the part (real or fake) they
WANT you to see.

It takes time. Getting to know a person as a whole human being is
ALWAYS going to take some time, even if it's someone you originally met
in a face-to-face setting. Meeting someone on line is even worse, in
some ways, because that person may be hundreds or thousands of miles
away, and may not be inclined to be any more honest than that level of
distance requires.

For me, the best way to get to know a person on line is through forums
like these. You can tell a lot about a person by the way they write,
the topics they care enough to write about, the responses they give. If
you write a poem, or reply to a post about what you think of as
attractive, I can learn some things about you that WEREN'T directed
towards me in an e-mail or an IM. You didn't write that poem because
you were trying to give me a particular impression, you wrote that
because you were expressing an idea, an opinion, an experience you had.

The people I feel I know the best on JSH are the ones who post the most.
As time goes on, certain people prove themselves to be who and what they
are. There are some people here who I believe would be, in real life,
pretty much the same as their personas here. Others I have doubts
about....
