do you think art that is based from death or violence is a negative
influence on the world or just a reflection of the world? how do you
feel about people that say they were influenced by it in a bad way and
blame the art for their wrongdoings?

i have a problem with people that try to place the blame on art. i feel
that these people already had this side to them and that it is basically
used as an excuse to do these types of things. i don't buy the argument
that these people were corrupted by the influence of the art and don't
think that they should allow people to use that as an excuse.
an example would be the killing of a young girl by some people that said
they were influenced by the band slayer is nonsense. are thes people so
weak of mind that they can be persuaded by a song to commit murder, i
don't think so and if they are there is something very wrong with their
state of mind. what ever happened with being held accountable for you
actions? i love all types of music and art and i have dark interests as
well but the idea that it could influence me to do something is
completely absurd.

1) it's a reflection of that person's soul or feelings at that time.
2) Art is art no matter which form. it shouldn't be blamed for the cause
of another's reaction. Everyone one has their own interpretation. I
think that they are the ones who's really fukd' up in the head not the
artist.
3) people have lost many things in this life and i can't really blame
them for feeling like "there's nothing there anyway so why bother" it's
the way we all have forgotten our strengths of morality. each generation
keeps getting worse. no manners, no respect, etc., i think that this is
all due to the fact that people have become scared of the public and
never discipline their children because they were told it's wrong, on
the contary "spare the rod, spoil the child." That's why there is so
many kid's, teens and even the adults that has no control over their own
lives because they let others run them over and couldn't care less. now,
if i was one of those lil' girls thats running around looking like im
twenty one. back then i'd get my ass whooped just for poseing. it's
nonsence it really is. then they say "well, he want leave me alone."
well, now, why do u think that? lol. ur the one who's drawing the
unwanted attention and i think that's what it all really bores down to
(attention) the parents wants their child to be themselves and there's
nothing wrong with that but a child doesn't know how to become a proper
adilt if they aren't taught.

the only reason i brought it up is because i was watching something on
death metal and black metal and they had the story about the slayer fans
that murdered that girl and the parents are trying to sue the band
because the dumbasses that did it said they were influenced by the
music, the band should not be sued. if anyone should be sued it should
be the asswholes who did it and their parents for raising a bunch of
mindless morons.

i mean really, if you are gonna make someone pay for just simply writing
about something why can't the people that did the crime take
responsibility?

ive always schooled myself in the belief art imitates life...and every
artist puts theyre own unique twist on things

i aggree with u kb, and how r ya?
we all know it's not the bands fault. there were many others out there
that had the same thing happen to them. eminem, marilyn manson, etc. all
trying to be sued for something because others say the music infleunced
me that's just someone's stupidity. i don't know if they got anything
out of it not even sure why those people said that, but, like,
duh, dumbass that's probally the song ur high ass was listening to when u
thought about it or did it. dipshits! why, cause they know they did
wrong but don't want to be punished for it. "do the crime, do the time"
i mean afterall, the band didn't make them do it nor did they make them
listen to the music. music doesn't make the people, it's the people that
makes the music. there are plenty of others out there that listens to
the same thing but, u don't see them running around doing these things
do u? if there was any band and i had no choice but to say it was
because of the music then it would be i.c.p. those freaky clowns! lol

ok..years ago, Ozzy was being sued because some kid killed himself
listening to Blizzard of Oz with the song suicide solution...now I've
listened to that album/cd many many times and in many different states
of mind and or intoxication and not ONCE did it ever "make" me kill
myself..Actually the song is about NOT commiting suicide..the 1st line
ffs is Wine is fine but whiskey's quicker. Suicide is slow and
bitter..hmmmmm
Now the reason it's called Suicide Solution is Ozzy is singing the
alternative to suicide is drinking lolol. So IF the "dark arts" can
influence ppl..that kid shoulda become an alky instead. Quite frankly I
think it's all part of the societal bullshit we have anymore that
doesn't want to take responsibility for their actions...maybe that kid
had emotional or mental disorders that weren't treated for all we know..
I'm 39 and I still listen to Slayer among others and I've never felt the
urge to go on a killing spree, altho there's a small list of ppl that I
wouldn't mind havin a go at. lolol....Ooooops sry..blame that last
comment on the heavy metal music I listen to :-P

i completely agree with you animal and that was my whole point to the
post. it's kind of along the same lines of expecting too much from our
teachers, they are not here to raise our kids but to aid in their
education. the full weight of their education should not even fall at
the teachers feet. parents need to take a much bigger role in their
childrens lives. granted this will still not take away the possibility
of these things happening but we have to take responsibility for our
actions and alot of people don't anymore and i think that is a major
reason for the erosion of our society as a whole.

People who blame art, videogames, movies, music for their actions are
just full of shit, it's their choice to look at play listen to or watch
any of it, The reason that they blame this stuff is because they are to
much of a pussy to take responcability for their own actions. If parents
think that video games are a bad influence on their children, then guess
what STOP BUYING THE SHIT.

I DONT THINK IT INFLUENCES VIOLENCE

Sometimes life is dark...
