Personally, I think if you have to worry about Adults in the pool because of drinking, then just don't allow the alcohol. It's as simple as that. Plus if it's BYOB, how can you regulate who is drinking what or how much? I am a lush and if I drink 2 beers there's no way I'm going near a pool cause more then likely my drunk ass would drown. So, like someone else said, 2 drinks to one person might be fine, but 2 drinks to someone like me could be dangerous. JMHO  And this is all being taken into consideration. That's why it's in discussion. It is a small group of people who actually enjoy the nightly drinking and dancing. That group of people really enjoys that aspect of camp though. A no alcohol camp wouldn't work. |

tell everyone they must wear their bathing suit under shorts and a t-shirt. First drink, they have to hand over the t-shirt, second drink, their shorts...if they are naked, they can't go into the pool area.  this is actually a great idea to start with. i was thinking of doing something with like poker chips. you get two at the beginning of the night. you have to hand one in with each drink you get. you need a chip to be able to enter the pool. BUT...not everyone drinks at the beer bar. some people will BYOB. so ultimately, i'm thinking we just have to trust that everyone will do the right thing and follow the rules and get thrown off camp if they break the rules. If they really wanted to limit drinking they would ban BYOB for this event. Sounds like their organization needs work. they don't want to limit drinking. they want to limit drunk swimming. Right. By limiting drinking for those who choose to swim.  BYOB doesn't work for that. They can't control it. tis true, and this is something that will be discussed. i'm just trying to get some input. i really appreciate the opportunity to discuss this and get feedback. |

Have them sign an agreement explaining the 2-3 drink rule and have a statement in there reliving you of any liability shall they break this agreement Everyone will have to sign a liability waiver. The problem is that it's a children's camp the rest of the year, so we have to protect the camp owner from potentially losing the license for the camp. Thats awsome..........are we allowed to know where this "camp" is so we can all send our children..........tell me do they put the "two" drink rule into play for them also before swimming? |

The only think I am going to suggest is a stamp on the hand for each drink. This only works if they cannot serve themselves...obviously. And once they enter the pool they will soak off I imagine. That's all I've got though.

Why don't you have the folks that want alcohol pitch in money or whatever for the alcohol, they can request what they want, and the camp provides it? That way there is no BYOB. Make the 2-3 drink rule clear to everybody (as far as the swimming thing goes) and there shouldn't be any problems. You'll probably want at least a couple of volunteers to handle anybody who gets rowdy though, just in case.

Well, in past years there has been a locker for alcohol and it was monitored that way, so I think it should be ok. There won't be anybody getting rowdy though. It's a great, mellow group of people. |
