I like any kind really, but lean more towards horrors and comedies.

if you're into horror, get a good Japanese horror flick. they are WAY better than all the american remakes. (like the grudge and the ring)

there's a Korean flick called A Tale of Two Sisters which is really creepy.
Audition from Takeshi Miike is pretty intense - a bit slow to get going but its worth it.
kevin Smith movies are prety funny especially Clerks 1 and 2, Chasing Amy is a very funny foul mouthed rom com (sort of)
i agree on the japanese Ring waaay better than the not bad remake

charlie bartlett is kinda cool.
the host is a korean monster movie, its fun.
high tension is a twisted french slasher movie.
the spanish apartment and the sequel, the russian dolls are both funny and heartfelt, if you wanna go for that.
city of god is an excellent take on mafia movies. its set in the slums in brazil, very violent, very stylish, highly recommended.

I thought Fish Tales was good!
Also No Reservations. The Invisible is ok,
but I wouldn't want to buy a copy. And I really
think Double Jeopardy is worth while, if you like suspense.
