born again?

Is there some ritual that MUST take place? Is there some certificate that people show you to prove the Holy Spirit (HS) is with them?

And if one speaks and says their words are inspired by the HS why would you not beleive?

and finally one more question, can you be fooled into believing someone is sincere about being filled with the HS when they are not?

i remember that the whole world looked different...i saw things that had always been there but i had never seen...i felt clean and purified without any ritual or certification.As for being fooled..yes, it can happen.You will know them by their fruit. Read proverbs..it says it all

Only God knows the litmus test. I can only speak of my own experience. It was an answer to a prayer from the heart for God to show Himself to me and a promise that I would be His. It was simply an unexplainable feeling when I woke up the next morning. A deep feeling of utter peace when there was NO reason to feel anything but anger, grief, and sadness. That was the "still, small voice" for me and it was the morning that I changed from atheist to Christian. Still working on the growing past the newborn stage though. It has only been seventeen years.

No ritual involved. Just a heartfelt conversation. One on one.

Yup! I felt that too! Although I am certain it is different for many.

Well it seems that there is confusion. I hear it all the time in these posts that the Holy Spirit helps people to interpret scripture. That the Holy Spirit also helps direct people in their daily lives by giving them signs and showing them things in dream like states.

But what I have never understood about this phenomina is the following.

If two people are discussing scripture and they both have a different view/interpretation and they both seem to have been avid born again believers, then who's to say which one is correct?

Also, if one is in constant contact with the HS, wouldn't they be questioning the HS on life decisions? And wouldn't the HS be sending signs to those NOT questioning, whenever it perceives a possible error?

If that's the case why do so many people follow those who become some of the worst evangelical offenders ever known?

I mean how good is it to be born again and to have this HS when you can never know, for sure, what a sign means, even if one is being presented and what you're supposed to believe when two people are at odds over a scripture?

why do you look at someone else's faults to perfect your judgments and sincere feelings. if you sincerely feel god is talking to you, then talk to him and he will speak with you. if you sincerely have an opposition to christianity then just say so and you will stop confusing yourself.

we are only human beings and we do not have all the answers for you.

this is where faith comes in..scripture says something different to each individual...if you are both asking, seeking, and knocking, then you are both "right"in your own way. At the end of the day..only love matters and being right or not gently fades into darkness...

To me the fault lies in someones abilty to believe they are being led by a Holy Spirit when there is not continuity to substantiate the assumption.

In fact when you say "we re only human beings and do not have all the answers for you" then I want to know why the Holy spirit cannot give you answers?

I only ask this because both of seem to be so much more easy going than some others who have a very definate idea of what and how they believe and that others should likewise believe in that manner.

Of course I do realize that not all Christians are the same, so I'm just wondering if that applies, as well, to all 'born again' Christians.

i believe that we are all saved by Christ whether we like it or not..i like it so yeah you could call me a born again Christian..i am not a different person through salvation, however,i have merely been reminded by grace of who i am meant to be and it feels good to know that person at last...

I think you would fall into the catagory that one "Abra" has dubbed The Designer Christian.

Please don't be offended it is a label that separates you from some of the more fundamentalist Christians. It was sort of created in answer to all those who complained, bitterly, at being LUMPED together with ALL Christians.

If there is peace in life, I've had some of it and if there is chaos I've had that too. I've had a lot of experiences and if there's peace in happiness, then I am at peace.

I find great peace in waking everyday and knowing I have another day to learn something new, and I find great rewards along the way.

I wish you the same peace for a great many, many days.

Sounds like the Holy Spirit helps you hear voices ... didnt Absinthe do the same thing 100 years ago.

Thats a pretty holy spirit, after you drink it you hear yourself saying "Oh god, never again"
