Topic: Gift Of Unselfishness | |
---|---|
I was inspired by a story I received in an email and I transposed into poetic form. I hope you enjoy. Gift Of Unselfishness There was a blind girl so sad She wished for but one thing, All the beauty around her With the birds that sing. The only thing that befalls her Is the gift of sight, Not one color can she describe Day is always night. Her fiance asked her one day If she had but one wish, What would she wish for in life As he gently placed a kiss. I would love to have my sight There is so much I want to see, Like your handsome face And all there is to be. Well, the day came, when a donor Blessed her with a set of eyes, The doctor came in, to let her know Of the big surprise. The donor was kept secret But they wanted you to see, So that you can experience All there is to be. A few days pass after surgery The bandages came off that day, As light was adjusting her new eyes She looked in every way. A smile came across her face With the colors that she saw, The wonderful shapes and hues She was staring in awe. Where is he? She asked the doctor My fiance, so handsome and fair, That wonderful man of mine This, I want to share. The doctor looked down, as he stepped aside In wheeled her fiance, She looked aghast, as he stepped aside She didn't know what to say. What is this, upon your face Your eyes are sewn shut, I can't believe your horridness That's how it was simply put. What am I to do with you Someone who can't see, I couldn't go on with life No one to take care of me. With that she left, leaving him alone With head bowwed in disgrace, He couldn't shed a tear With no eyes upon his face. He wrote her a letter, to let her know He granted her special wish, That wonderful gift of unselfishness That she so missed. He wrote and said in the letter Of what she meant to him, That he's already seen it all And the places he's been. So he gave up his own sight To show her his love, Now he has been left a saddened man With no sight to speak of. |

Very sad, but beautifully said Robert.
People need to appreciate what is going on in their life and around them and not be so selfish to those that give their all... |

Thanks Kitten...that is true of what you said. Very true.
Sorry it's a sad one Barb, but it does take the harshness out of the actual story as someone had told me. Thanks Jo, I couldn't have said it any better than that. |
