If I'm not mistaken, too much medicine like Aleeve, Tylenol, or Ibupofen is extremely bad for your body. Also, it sounds like your sternum may have been almost healed but you might have "popped" it again by over exerting yourself. I would definitely see a doctor or go to the ER. I have never in my life heard of a doctor not prescribing pain pills when someone had broken bones like you do from a car accident. I'm thinking you got the wrong doctor. Anyway, I would go back and try again and not leave until you get some relief.

Sounds like they might have thought you were drug seeking. Happens all the time in ERs, people wanting narcotics. Go back and talk to them again, explain the pain, them to review your prior record of injury, etc. Also, you primary doctor may be a better choice as they know your history of prescription usage and lack of abuse. Alternate ice and heat. Can alternate Tylenol and aspirin at 2 hour intervals too to help get more pain relief. Good luck.

Tylenol extra streangth arthritis is the strongest tylenol 2 of those and an aspirin.
If doesnt help go to doc and beg you can alternate prescription pain meds and over the counter but ask doc what u can take with prescription and how often. drink a lot of water and stay away from anything salty it raises blood pressure causes swelling and more pain.

Talking about myself only : I usually take Tylenol NO. 2 or NO. 3 for strong pain . I need a doctor prescription to get it .

Thats the weak stuff

Why is it weak ?. It works for me . Can you explain your words?.

In the realm of pain killers, they are on the lower level, if it kills your pain, thats good that you don't need anything stronger. When my pain flares up I need the mid range pain killers like Lortab, on the heaviest end is straight up morphine. Tylenol 2 or tylenol with codeine is weak compared to the others out there. With his problems the best he can hope for is Lortab with a heavy hydrocodone mix for a pain killer. I only know some of this stuff because of injuries in college and high school football and having surgeries. Basically I have one good joint left. My right knee, and eventually I just learned to live with the pain most of the time. So when it comes to pain killers, I have an idea of what I am talking about, not quite like a doctor or nurse, but enough from observations.

Thank for sharing all this info .
I wish you the best to get rid of your pain .
It is tough to live with pain , and I mean any pain .

I live with pain everyday from a car crash. Doc's had me on painkillers all the time. never really worked and you always need more and more.

I have a plate and 9 screws in my foot

Someone said try glucosamine chondroitin...I was desperate..it's over the counter stuff..within 4 days I could walk the entire mall without sitting down drinker

I still have bad days but I take 2 tablets a day. It is a joint pain relief natural remedy. Over the counter. Osteo biflex is on TV - but you dont need the expensive stuff...check the milligrams - as long as it is 1500 you can buy any brand. There is also a drink that has it called elation but it is very sweet and expensive. This is great for any kind of arthritis too. When you break a bone you will end up with joint pain eventually.

That pop sounds like you might have had a fractured collarbone and you moved or lifted and it snapped. That happened to my daughter. they put her in a brace to try to keep her from moving too much. It was painful.

Best of luck and time and rest are your best friends!~!

Hit the streets in search of Oxy-80's or delatta's(sp) if the doc's won't help. Years ago when I broke my back all the doc would give me was T-3's. I told him they were useless and asked for something that works. When he refused I told him fine, I'll go use street drugs to kill the pain.. I got my painkillers from him laugh

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I went back to the er today. they did x-ray again, again it showed my sternum was broke, they asked when it happened, told em bout a month, and about the incident at work, he told me he doesnt see how it could be hurtin this bad cause the x-rays seemed normal, and that my pain will go away eventually, and that i dont need any prescription meds, so guess i actually will have to just go buy some from someone.
