Most of you saw my post that I have to fire someone this morning... I am debating if I should call her and tell her over the phone or let her drive all the way here and then fire her. I hate doing it over the phone, I'm an "in person" kind of boss... however I hate to have someone come all the way here just to turn around and go home. Is it wrong to call her?

That's not too bad. I'd be pissed that I had to get up at all though. Get up, get dressed, primp yourself, drive, get there, get fired. Sounds ****ty to me.

I would hate to be fired, but I think it would be worse over the phone. I think it would be better face to face

Correct way to "dismiss an employee" is in person.
Allows conversation face to face, as it should be.

I've had a temp agency tell me over the phone that morning that the company decided to use someone else... and it sucked, but I went right back to bed without having to do all the other junk to get ready for nothing. Face to face is something, but not troubling yourself with all the bs of thinking you have a job that day and then losing it sucks pretty badly too...

Better at the start of the shift than at the end. I work a job for the 'probationary' period. Was fired at the end of the work day for something I wasn't doing. I wasn't trained to do it and it wasn't on my checklist and I never had a clue I wasn't doing something. Because in 3 months, no one bothered to correct it.

Now that is ****-y.

that really is. We have to give people 3 written warnings to fire someone. I can't just randomly say you weren't doing something and then fire you.

what even made it worse, it was my 22 birthday. no, maybe my 20th. Because 22 was right before I went back to college for my second degree.

Be woman enough to tell her like it is in person.But be gentle.
As you know,women are like a delicate flower.Let her go with respect and dignity.Even though she must of messed up.Don't scar her forever.we all have feelings.I was a foremen once and you do what you have to.But do it in a respectable manner and professionately.
