Just curious if anyone has ever encountered this with anyone before and is it normal for a woman who is 40 to continue to suffer from this....she was doing it to stay thin.

I had a best friend that had anorexia.
No, it's not normal. They are both psychological conditions that can be life threatenng. It's very difficult to stop without medical treatment. Even then they sometimes don't stop. They may be freaky skinny but when they look in the mirror they see a fat person. |

Well there is Anorexia and Bulimia..Bulimia is when they will make themselves throw up..and no matter how many times they are told that they are skinny they look in the mirror and feel fat...they will see a fat person...they don't see other women as fat, and feel that they are fatter than they actually are. Its a very tricky disease, yes it is a disease and very very hard to overcome..u cannot really cure it..even once she has learned on how to eat again, because s/o w/ Bulimia tends to go on binges and purges to make herself sick and then throw up, she will always have that temptation to do it again..its a sad sad situation.

Psychologically speaking it stems from a lack of attention from one or both parents, typically the mother due to the figure of a woman. Though men are also known to suffer from such infactuation, usually stems from father child relations when it is with a guy and a mother child relationship when it deals with a daughter. Either way you look at it, it is not an illness or a disease it is the infactuation with looking like Paris Hilton or Angelina Jolie...it is merely what the mind tells you to look for, not what you truly see.

If you chose to involve yourself with her, expect to reassure her that she's not fat, and expect that sometimes, that wont be enough. This is a struggle only she will be able to work on, but encouragement helps. |

this $#!T is really a disease? I don't believe it. I thought diseases were things you cannot help. Not something brought on by yourself. Got all kinds of pills and names for things that seem "Normal" and they want to give us conditions and pills.... Funk that... I honestly think people are weaker now than they were before.
How many other people in other countries do you know allergic to food? Heck, I am allergic to foods.... I think Americans are like the only people allergic to foods, because we eat so damn much. I can't believe I see 5 year old diagnosed with ADD. Last time I checked, kids that age never pay attention to $#!T anyways. They always run around all crazy. schizophrenia? What's that? last time I checked, that was a person who will never be lonely! Okay just kidding bout this one.... But I think people take things way to damn far. I have been hearing about people "Sleep Eating", and I was like What the F$#@ is that? To "prove" it, they had a camera on this guy. It didn't fool me. This dude, got up from bed, went into the kitchen and make himself a hero like he went to subway. Who the hell can do that in their sleep? He was just hungry and ashamed of it. It's alright man, I get the munchies at night too. |

They usually need to be hospitalized. You will find it in a book called the Diagnostic and Statisical Manual. This is the book that the doctors use to obtain their diagnoses. "I can't believe I see 5 year old diagnosed with ADD. Last time I checked, kids that age never pay attention to $#!T anyways. They always run around all crazy." Five year olds are not always running around all crazy and not ever paying attention. Sit in a kindergarten class for a day. The children are sitting and paying attention and learning how to read, write, and do math. ADD is very real. |
