Just wanted to get your feedback and see if anyone actually had a SUCCESSFUL RELATIONSHIP with someone that lived a great distance away...from start to finish...starting with IM or email and then ending with meeting face to face and then either getting married or having a long term relationship...because I'm not sure its possible...YOUR thoughts?

Had a bad experience with this with my ex....but I'm willing to give it another try...I think it's possible, provided two people are willing to take their time and not rush things... |

There are old myths and legends going back some 12,000 years claiming that LDRs can work.... Seriously, there have been some people here who have been able to do LDRs successfully. Not me, though -- I've tried it a few times and it was always a disaster. More trouble than it was worth. I would never do it again.... |

Weird defention of sucessfull. Yes. 6 months or so of long distance relastionship, starting with IM then moving to phone! we met about 2 months into it. I made 3 more trips, then moved. Last 4 years, and a few breakups. It's very possable. The main challanges is both party's have to be commited. 2 of my friends are going on 1 1/2 years of a long distance relastionship. They will be living together shortly. They work fine as long as your willing to make it work, and you can have a rough idea when you might want to start living together or move to be closer to actually get to the dating part. Usually by then you already know everything about the person, or the important stuff, and can just spend time having fun with them, and catching up on sex. |

i'm waiting for the guy or gal to get on here and tell their romantic story against all odds and prove to me it does work...so far not much of a POSITIVE response, huh? you do realize that like everyone here is single, and at some point the relastionship had to fail for them to be single again? Ohhh i have a story. A chick i know named miffy and her guy hunter. She lives in england, he lived in the us. There now married in england. Another friend of mine, nick, from new orleans, fell for a girl named toni from australia. He visited her, and really wanted to live together. When he was applying for citizenship, the new orleans floods happened. With like no cash, he still kept on pushing for the citizenship. Eventually he got it, moved there, and now there married and have a happy family. His step son absolutely LOVES him to. I've also seen alot of disasters. They always come when you meet the first time, after the first month, or after spending a few days with the person. |
