McCain aide hits nerve with terror remark
By Edward Luce and Andrew Ward in Washington

John McCain’s right-hand man hit a raw nerve on Monday when he said another terrorist attack on US soil would prove a “big advantage” to the Republican nominee’s general election chances.

The comments by Charlie Black, who is arguably Mr McCain’s most experienced adviser, put into words what many Republicans and Democrats have privately been stating for months.

Black, 60, who is a veteran of every Republican presidential campaign since the 1980s and served in the Reagan and Bush Senior administrations, immediately apologised for his remarks, which were published in an interview with Fortune Magazine.

It is truth. It was something a campaign strategist would say in a meeting, why he did this like this I do not know. When everyone on Morning Joe said there was no real issue for they knew how to take it I have hope for us.

It is true, and even the DEMOCRATS, including Hillary Clinton stated this, this was also big in the 2004 election. All commentators, even Democratic operatives stated that should anything military or terror related happen it would favor the Republicans (Bush and now Mccain). The same is true now, both sides feel it.

Grow up and be real. He was not saying "Oh gosh, I hope we get hit by a terror attack and many die", he was saying "If something terror or military related I do know it will be a "big advantage" to Mccain." And, it would. It's just simple fact. Commentators have been saying it, analysts have been saying it, everyone in the media has been saying just this for a very long time now. But, when a Mccain guy says it, uh oh. Sure Olbermann will dedicate tonight's rant to this.

in my belief i think an attack would hurt mccain

the response would (should)be we went to take the fight to them so they would not bring it to us

ype that worked well do we want to continue this thought process

this is (mccains opponent) and i approved this message

I guess if there was a major terrorist attack between now and November it would be proof that Bush Jr.'s War on Terrorism has FAILED and it would NOT help, but HURT McCain. ohwell
