I guess the only ones who don't are just lucky. Women will say that it's what they want, but it never ends up that way. I'm jaded. I've been the 'nice guy' all of my life. I always hear that I am a wonderful friend and would be a great father. The ladies run off with all the jerks and I get to hear the sob stories when when it does'nt work out. I love thinking about changing my personality so that a woman can 'discover' or 'bring out' that emotional man hiding inside. It's just great that I have to resort to acting insensitive so that the people that I'm interested in can take notice. It's not like somebody is going to say 'hey that's a really great guy, I'm going to stick with him'. Give me a break. Everything in my life is going right for me except the dating area. I'm just not jerk enough. I've never been arogant, but if it's part of the dating ritual, I guess it's time to find my ego. Even a nice guy can break a girl's heart. Having experience in the matter personally I can tell you that it has nothing to do with being nice. If it is not meant to be then so be it. As Hiker previously stated it could have more to do with not being confident. We dont want a man we can walk all over who will just be nice about everything. We want a man with heart who feels the entire spectrum of emotion and will get worked up about something when it is justifiable.

a nice guy you trust and do not expect them to break your heart...
a jerk you expect them to ruin something sometime so when they do something it's not as hurtful but when a guy you don't ever expect to hurt you breaks your heart that one just hurts |

Thanks to all for giving a this thinker some fuel for my internal debate later on. I'm sure that the results will be pleasing to me. As always, what this site lacks in dating, it makes up for in advice.

Ok you know what? Your not "too" nice, your just not confident in what you have. Thats what women want more than looks, humor, or that other crap they say they want. What singles out a man from the rest of the herd is his ability to stand out because he knows hes the best.
And i don't mean "super douche bag" egotistical either, because theres a difference between knowing your the best and being good about, and being a total ass-hat and pushing it on others. But you need to go up to a woman and say "hey your cute, wanna go hang out?" and if she says "no" than walk off and let her take her pick of herd. But if she says "yes" than go hang out and have a good time. Even if she doesn't like you, and walks away, its no problem, theres tons of women out there who will say yes and will stay to hang out. And don't let the sarcastic people of the forums bring you down either, they can be ruthless and down right mean, just like high school children. So go out there and kick the world in the face until you find a good woman!

 You nailed that right on the head...... I was going to say this about TheCaptain, he is the nicest guy I have ever known and it was because of his self-confidence that he caught my attention...... As another member just posted this past week......Nice guys do finish last: he is the last to call me his............the last to hold me in his arms...................and the last one I will be with. And to that I have to agree NICE GUYS DO FINISH LAST! Just continue being nice.....
