basically love/sex is a chemical reaction in our bodies that produces pheromones. And to be able to duplicate this in the form of a cologne or perfume, gives you the ability to attract a mate. I think anyway. Similar to musk glands in animals.

Alcohol makes you smell pheromones that are not there. You will realize this if you wake up with someone and say, "What the heck was I thinking!"
