Are you maybe over analyzing? Just a thought....ducks and covers his butt on the way out of the thread.
maybe, but just wondering why a grown up man is looking for a girl. Is he afraid of women?

I like to write but if I use the same word again and again then its fairly bad. Interchanging woman and girl is ok for that reason but I would have to look at the profile to see if that was what he's doing.

"I would like to find a woman who is nice and knows how to plant corn. She should be a woman who is not afraid of pigs or chickens. The woman I am thinking of will be someone like that woman in "Annie Get Your Gun"."
so, would it be Ok for me to use the word "boy" in the same way?

Guys just sorta use "girl" as a pet name. I think. I don't think they are necessarily looking for a girl. But, you are right about the other way...us calling them "boy" just doesn't sound right. Just one of those double standard things we all have come accustomed to, guess. I call Peccy my sexy man? He eats that up  bigsmile

I guess I haven't become accustomed to it. It still bothers me to be called a girl.

Must be the feminist lurking in me.

It doesn't bother me when a man speaks like that. Actions speak louder than words.

Honestly, if someone calls me girl it doesn't bother me but if someone calls me "a girl" I feel like it's demeaning.

Slight difference but there you have it.

True, but I have to wonder about a guy who thinks of adult women as "girls".

And, I agree with this.

Yeah depends on how it is delivered and how well the person knows you that delivers it. I don't really like a perfect stranger calling me by any pet names...I even don't like waitresss calling me sug or hon...noway noway noway

I think sometimes when you call a service company or something and the guy says "I'll have my girl send it over" or something.I grit my teeth.

Personally, I hate it when a man calls me a girl. I'm a woman and it took me a long time to get here. I earned my title and have the wrinkles and gray hair to prove it. Unfortunately. indifferent laugh

Tone of voice and choice of words can have a negative impact, yes.

of a 55 year old guy who says he is looking for the right "girl". GIRL? That alone would make me not talk to him.

If I wrote in my profile that I was looking for the right "boy", what would you think?

55 with a 20 , 21 , 22 ....will be a good match if that is what he wants . We are free in seeking our happiness . The rest can only watch and can criticise ..... !. Consenting adults choose for themselves .grumble grumble .
20, 21, 22 is not a girl. It's an adult woman.

i know, i said i would class 16 or younger as a girl, anything above and a woman

I have nothing against young boys. Just don't expect me to adopt you. laugh smokin

Seriously, a 55 year old man looking for a "girl" just does not realize he is a grownup now. laugh laugh

He really needs a woman I would think... but then maybe not.
