I agree they have horrendous conditions and deserve our gratitude ..but how is it that you know they do it "with a smile"? I find that odd..they march through the 110 degree heat smiling? thanks for stopping by hiker chick oh...you are funny with your questions... while i am not there overseas... i do have friends who are Soldiers there .. and they are there, because they want to be many of our Soldiers actually love serving their country and they do smile alot believe it or not... for they are trained unlike civilians and can handle a lot more than we can... so rain or shine...they are there so that is why i said they work in love and with a smile on their faces... & are extremely generous with themselves and the majority of the peasant people there... really love them okay...now i'm done answering questions |

Oh good, for a second there I thought this might be just another petty little whining post. Nice to see appreciation where it's due... of course let's not forget all the other people in the world with service jobs as well. Especially all those people that do the dirty jobs no one else wants to do! oh, thank you Ethereal Embers for stopping by and giving this worthy thread, a closer look and we must all remember ... to not judge a book or a thread... by its cover |

as i was riding my bicycle today in the < 95 plus > degree heat in my shorts & tank top & running shoes.... only carrying myself, a small pack on my bike rack and my bottle of water .... i suddenly stopped thinking of my own situation for long enough to think of our Sweet hard working Soldiers who tackle weather ~ way worse than what i experience and they do it carrying all kinds of extremely heavy gear and they do it with love and with a smile for those of you, who also are fatigued by the heat , or afflicted with other adversity in your lives.... please....think of this... this is the ten day forecast for Baghdad Iraq..... [ Sat Jun 21 Sunny 111° 86° 0% 111°F Sun Jun 22 Sunny 111° 83° 0% 111°F Mon Jun 23 Sunny 110° 83° 0% 110°F Tue Jun 24 Sunny 108° 84° 0% 108°F Wed Jun 25 Sunny 109° 84° 0% 109°F Thu Jun 26 Sunny 110° 85° 0% 110°F Fri Jun 27 Sunny 112° 86° 0% 112°F Sat Jun 28 Sunny 112° 84° 0% 112°F Sun Jun 29 Sunny 108° 83° 0% 108°F So....now... don't you think it is time to again count our blessings ??? and thank God eternally for Our Beloved Troops who endure such adversity and extreme weather conditions every day they are over there during their extremely long tours of duty ... Bless Them, Oh God... Protect them every step of the way and lighten their loads, provide them with enough nourishing food, & clean water , plenty of showers, clean clothes... more hours for sleep more rest & relaxation , way shorter tours and much shorter missions Not making light of this, but that sounds like Oklahoma. I was told it gets much hotter there than that. They wear such gawd aweful hot clothing and all that gear. It must be hard. Love to all the soldiers everywhere. Kat |
