when times are tough? Do they diagnose more cavities than a person actually has? I'm suspect because one year I went to the dentist and didn't have any cavities. The following year I had eight. explode

There's this new invention called a toothbrush.

You can pick one up at most retail outlets.
You'll have to get the accessory package with it known as toothpaste

i went to a dentist that i had for yrs prior and he stated that i didnt have any cavities, and he wouldnt finish up my cleaning because of my insurance. so i went to a differnt dentist and to find out i had 13cavities. and i tried to get the other denitist in trouble with the dental assication and they took there side and he kick me from the curb of coming back to his office.. well i didnt like his attitude any how... the new dentist did all the work...

mmmmmmmm well put it like this, ive worked with dentists for around 6 years, and they have pulled wrong teeth out, filled teeth that didnt need doing and got the wrong side of the mouth. also one of our patients neally swallowed a RCT file, which is a long metal file to get the nerve out, thats very dangerous, but luckily i was able to get it out in time. you dont know what goes on behind close doors. if i told you about one dentist i worked for, you would all be scared to go to a dentist again so i wont share that with you.

About ten years ago I was at the dentist and he was smoothing the tops of my teeth for a better bite. He dropped the drill and the bit punctured my eyeball. Very little blood, but it imbedded an eyelash in my eyeball and bothered me for months until I went and had it removed. The bastard dentist made me pay the $49 office visit. Needless to say I didn't go back to him.

OH, im sorry to hear that, ive been a dental assistant for over 10yrs, military and civilian, never had a horror story to share, always worked for great dentists. I have seen patients come in with work well below standards, but still functioning, and more so done for the demands of the patient with little dental IQ (ex, getting bright white teeth, and the rest arent, changing all the filling from silver to white, etc.). But I will say, ive had a "sticky spot" on my tooth once, that in a year turned into a cavity, and in a few months turned into a close root canal, so its no always impossible. Best of luck to you all, with good dentists. happy

the more work they do on you, the more money they get. some dentists made me write in patient notes they had done treatment they hadnt done, just so they got more money. and some dentists will say theres cavities when theres not, simply to make more money out of you.

when i go the dentist now if they say ive got a cavity, i ask them to do a xray, and ill look myself to see if there really is one there, and sometimes there was nothing wrong.
