It was 9 months ago today I lost my beloved 14 year old dog Simba. She was my best friend and companion, and even though my new Pup Cherokee brings me much joy, not a day goes by that I dont miss her and mourn her!!! So heres a change to post a memorial to ANY pet you have lost and keep their memory alive!!!brokenheart flowerforyou

That is so sweet .. I don't have a pic of my first doggie .. but we had an English Springer Spaniel. Bestest friend a person could have ..

She got cancer at 14 and died.

It is so hard to let them go. They are a member of the family. I lost our 14 yr old dog in 2002 and it hurt like hell. She was the reason I kept what ever sanity I had left after losing my husband.

So, for Misty my sweet love. Think of you all the time.

i lost my rabbit a few years ago, he had a operation because he had a hairball, well he never recovered from the operation. we took her home and she was ok for a few days, and then    it all went bad. he started walking around in circles, and you could see he was very distressed, so we rushed him to the vets, only took 5 mins, and they put him in a oxygen tent . The vet said he was very poorly and he would mostly die anyway, he said we can try him on fluids. I was considering trying him on fluids, THEN   when i picked him up out the oxygen tank, i held him in front of me, and he looked at me, and his tongue was hanging out, and he was really cold,i couldnt bare to see him in pain anymore, so i said to the vet, i cant watch him suffer anymore, and i agreed to having him out to sleep, seeing his little eyes looking at me and is tongue having out was heartbreaking brokenheart to see, i didnt want him to die, but in a way i was being selfish because i loved him and i wanted him, but then i thought this isnt about me, its about my rabbits whos distressed and in pain. the vet said he would have done the same thing, his chances were so slim, plus when they did the op there was something wrong with his liver, so he wouldnt have lived much longer anyway, and he would have been suffering. they put him to sleep while i was holding him, and he went in seconds. i cried the whole time at the vets and for a long time after. i still think of him most days. he was a house rabbit, and he would jump up on the bed at night and sleep with me. he was amazing.

Mikey,

Please know that I am thinking of you today as you remember Simba. I know how much she meant to you and what joy she brought into your life and how much you loved that precious friend. They always say a dog is mans best friend, and you are a man who I admire and I am proud to call you my dearest friend and I know Simba is watching out for you. Cherokee is doing the same and is a gift to carry on that great friendship that Simba gave you. I was so glad when you finally found you another little pup and she has brought you so much joy and will do that as long as Simba did, I pray. Love ya dear friend.

Anniversary dates are so hard...you have my heartfelt sympathyflowerforyou

I had to have my Father's dog put to sleep just this week, so very hard. He lost his last one just last summer a few weeks after losing my Mother.

You do remember them every day, but you know the healing is beginning when you can start to smile at the memories instead of crying.

Hugs flowerforyou
