You need to get off of it slowly. If you need to get off fast you may need to be admitted to the hospital to watch you closely.flowerforyou flowerforyou flowerforyou

Mood swings, body chemical imbalance, water buildup. Talk to your doctor.

I'm saying you should not be seeking medical advice from random strangers...

you better ask a doc, sometimes they tell you it isnt addictive, only to find out it is.....

Definitely ask a doctor. You don't want to do anything on your own. Prozac (and all SSRI's / SNRI's) directly affect brain chemistry. Not something to be played with on your own.

and you here about side effects, all the time, deff not something to tinker with cause it DOES effect brain chemistry, thats the whole point of the drug, if anything, and you do go without doc's advise, do it slowly.

Well, you should never do that with an anti-depressant. They are to be weaned off of. A pharmacist can advise you how.

It can have a withdraw syndrome associated with it as all antidepressants do. Consult your doctor. If you are truly depressed you should take it as it is Rx. If you feel like you do not need it anymore, talk to your doc before getting off of it b/c you may feel more depressed if you abruptly stop taking it.

take solaray one daily st. johns wart, the highest milligram they have,(look it up) two tablets in the morning and two tablets at night. my ex has clinical depression to the point where they had her on 37.5 milligrams of paxil, after she became prozac toxic, and she became toxic to the paxil, and decided to get off them, and tried this type of st. johns wart, and it's working for over six years now, and she was so bad at one time, that she was a cutter, so i know this works!!!!
ween off slowly if you must do this though. a lot of people don't understand that they are so damned expensive, and have no choice.

SSRI's and SNRI's need to be taken on a set schedule and have dosages changed slowly to avoid both physical and psychological changes. skipping weeks like that could lead to psychotic like episodes.

A more interesting question to ask is what happens when you have a bad reaction to the meds and they drive you "batty". I was off work for two years and lost both my wife and my paramedic license because of antidepressants. All because the worse I got the more pills the flipping doctor gave me. I had to stop taking them on my own. Long story! Ask your instructor about serotonin syndrome. I think it is underdiagnosed.

Actually, just a simple phone call to your pharmacy should answer your question. Prozac actually stays in your body longer than any other SSRI (Selective serontonin reuptake inhibitor), so you may not notice any withdrawl symptoms until after maybe 5 to 6 days of not taking it. As with any depression therapy medication, in order to be effective you must have a therapeutic level in your bloodstream in order for it to be effective. If you are going to stop taking it, consult your doctor so that you can be titrated down safely.
