ok, so in my english class, we have to an analysis of a poem, we get to pick said poem and it can be written by anyone at anytime. Well I thought to myself a song is like a poem, so I picked the song Im Alive by Disturbed. well the teach said it wasnt a poem, but didn't give me a good reason as to y its not, my argument is that is that it still has a rhyme scheme, symbolism, and what not. Anyway enough of my lil rant, do you think a song could be considered a poem

I think some of the best poems are songs.

My sixth grade teacher told me that songs are poems

Tell your teacher... huhmad laugh

"Poetry is not how you say it, it's what you say. That's poetry. Poetry cannot be confined by metrics. If you want to confine my poetry to anything less then an A, well then you do not understand the meaning of poetry."

There is no question in my mind that songs are of a poetic nature....I'm a lyricist myself.

I think the teacher probably just didn't like the song you chose laugh

I just checked out the "I'm Alive" lyrics by Disturbed...if those lyrics aren't poetry in motion, I don't know what is ....

Keep the faith...the teacher seems misguided...
