ok, so in my english class, we have to an analysis of a poem, we get to pick said poem and it can be written by anyone at anytime. Well I thought to myself a song is like a poem, so I picked the song Im Alive by Disturbed. well the teach said it wasnt a poem, but didn't give me a good reason as to y its not, my argument is that is that it still has a rhyme scheme, symbolism, and what not. Anyway enough of my lil rant, do you think a song could be considered a poem

i think a song could be considered a poem. lots of songs start out as poetry actually. im surprised your teacher didnt give you a reason.

There is no question in my mind that songs are of a poetic nature....I'm a lyricist myself.
I think the teacher probably just didn't like the song you chose I just checked out the "I'm Alive" lyrics by Disturbed...if those lyrics aren't poetry in motion, I don't know what is .... Keep the faith...the teacher seems misguided... |
