You just get them the treatment they need; ask the doc what they would do if its theirs..and know when to say goodbye no matter how much it hurts; just remember its better than having them in pain.

That is sooooo hard. When I knew my dog was getting old I bought a new puppy while he was still alive. That way when the time came I wasn;t left with nothing and I didn't feel like I was replacing him.I am not saying it didn,t still hurtlike hell but at least it did help a bitflowerforyou

does not matter if you think that you are trying to "gear" yourself up for it..
just enjoy your "boy" dont give the vibe that he is leaving soon.. he will catch that vibe and it will be harder

it'll be hard, no denying that. I had a chow for 12yrs she became ill with cancer in her hips, couldn't walk.. it was the hardest thing we ever had to do as a family, but couldn't stand to see her suffering, we had to put her to sleep. My ex decided to have her cremated, thought that would be easier on the kids.

I lost my dog, my baby, back in Feb. It still hurts. But it is getting easier as the days go by. I look at her pictures and remember the fun times I had with her. flowerforyou

That's a tuff one. Lost many loved companions. Last one was my 6 year old Great Pyranese just a few months ago, came home from work and she was gone...no warning. And that morning I had kinda yelled at her

I miss her every day, she was a lover.

Seven years ago I couldn't come home for 6 weeks after losing my first dog. I could not stand to walk in the house and not have her here. I simply moved out.

Losing a pet is so very hard, there are some great websites about grieving and handling the loss, support, stories, suggestions, etc.

I feel your pain. Lost 3 last year alone. 19 year old cat who had been with me since he was 6 weeks old and a 22 year old cat that moved here with me.

I had to have my father's dog put to sleep 2 months after he lost my mother. Mom always said it was a good thing she wasn't the jealous type, cause that dog would have to go, she'd never seen a man treat a dog so well or spoil one so much. laugh
Dad couldn't deal with the loss of his two best girls in so short of time. It was so hard on him.

I always say 'never ever ever ever again'...but thankfully come around and another one finds me at just the right time. flowerforyou

You can only be grateful for the time you have together and know you gave them the best life possible and a peaceful ending on this earth. They are always with us, however.

Enjoy your days together and spoil him rotten. flowerforyou

Hugs to you and Bouncer.

Bounce is very healthy. Rottwielers don't live much more than 10 years. His entire life I knew that so I intentualy fed him rightb so (I thought) he would live longer. It has kind of worked. But He Will Die Soon....................I could never ask for a bettewr companion and will never get one. He will be gone soon. My Boy.

I don't have a scanner or I could show you many pics. Right now he is in what we would call "Retirement" at Moms house where he has the whole place to himself. No other dogs to give him problems. You know, he does not know he is old.
