had to put my boy down a few summers ago too. he was like the grandfather i never got to know. i had to carry him in and out of the house that last year because he couldnt make it up and down the stairs. i had to wrap him in a blanket at night because he would shiver. i had to clean out that blanket because he would sometimes have an accident in it. he couldnt help it. his last year was bad......twelve year old sheperd....probably pushed him to much. i didnt have the heart to put him down. my brother told me,one day, he would come and take him to do it. he watched me dig his grave out in the back yard. just laying there....almost as if he knew. it was very tough emotionally. all the neighbors came by,one by one to say goodbye to him. everyone in the area knew him. all i can tell you is this....do it yourself if it comes to that. i still have nightmares over that. i should have seen him off. his last look.....should of been my face. i will always regret that. good luck......hope its not to tuff for you......do it right, that dog is a part of you. take care:cry:
