Drinking only makes it better for the "right now"... it will actually heighten your depression later.. don't do it!

Don't Worry Be Happy...
animals are great for cheering you up, something about their unconditional love laugh - at anything - go to a joke website, watch a funny movie, watch the comedy channel listen to great music call a good friend go for a hike curl up and read a good book go outside and enjoy the beautiful day count your blessings and if those don't work, it's ok to crawl in bed and pull the covers over your head for awhile ... sometimes that is what we need and there are times that I truly am not fit for human consumption and I do the world a favor and go off by myself until I am safe again!! Hang tuff |

I am glad you don't drink, alcohol is a depressant and it doesn't mix with any meds you may be on bipolar, I don't know if you are or not. Bipolar is a chemical imbalance in your brain, not just depression or feeling sad.
There are a lot of good ideas here. Maybe a bubble bath. Call a friend to talk, the fresh air idea is good too. I tend to withdraw and be by myself when I am depressed, just the opposite of what I should be doing. You sound like a smart woman, hope you feel better tomorrow. Eat a big bowl of ice cream if it makes you feel better, watch a funny movie. Take care. |

Maybe this is wrong of me, but I think of people that are is worse off conditions, like someone is dying of aids right now, a baby is born with a crack addiction, some where someone is getting raped that did not deserve it, or millions are dying of starvation that they had no choice in, so who am i to sit here and be depressed, why should i drown myself in depression and self pity, no i won't, i will pick myself up, and go to the nearest bar, and sit among the living and have myself a drink, or do something else that makes me forget... thats how i think when im down, or in a lot of pain. |

I always try to find something to keep my mind busy, like reading a good book, talking to my daughter or a good friend.

yea do what i did last nite..... try and get drunk.... That's not the answer especially if you are on meds for your bi-polar! Yeah most definitely. Alcohol doesn't mesh well with bi-polar meds. You should talk to someone who makes you feel better. Someone positive who wont say something that makes you feel even worse. Avoid people who are negative or who are gonna make you feel worse. |

The last few days would have been unbearable for me, as I have bipolar, and am currently transitioning from uber-happy to uber-sad. To combat this, I have been keeping active (always something to do) and making sure not to expect to much from any given situation.
