My dad was a genius, with a really f****d up sense of humor, and the life of the party. When I moved away from Dallas, all my friends would still go over to party with him. He was an amazing mathmatical genius and everyone loved him. I miss him a lot. I got presents from him on my birthday and Christmas, for 4 years after he died, that was kinda freaky but that's the way he was.

My Dad...where do I start?

He was/is a farmer, so was 'home' every day and maybe that's why we are all so close?
He's a twin. My uncle's family lived upstairs and we lived downstairs at the farm where they bought their first farm after returning home from WWII and marrying within 2 weeks of each other.

My uncle's family then moved to their parents farm where they were raised when my Grandma passed.
We then moved the farm where my Mother was raised, after her Father retired from farming.
So we were still only a mile apart!

I feel like I had two dads, and am so thankful for that every day.

My Dad/Uncle (at times it is so hard to seperate the two) were always there for us. We were always outside with them, in the barns, doing the feeding, in the gardens, in the fields, taking dinner and supper to them and eating with them in the fields during planting and harvest season.

My Dad even drove our school bus. In 2nd grade this girl that did not like me for some reason...was so jealous that I would run out to the bus after school and the bus driver would pick me up and twirl me around in the air and give me a big bear hug, set me on the bus and kiss me on the cheek! She had no idea he was my Daddy!
(We become best friends later in 2nd grade and remained so for life!)

My Father courted my Mother for 8 years and they were married 53 years before my Mother passed last year. I've never seen such devotion and love as between those two all my life.
My Mother had health problems, was deaf since childhood and was in a wheelchair her last couple years. She never drove or spoke on the phone.
My Father idolized her, doted on her, treated her like a princess, took such tender loving care of her always.

He is the kindest, warmest, most honest, respectful, funniest, loving Father anyone could ask for...we never part without a bear hug, a kiss and looking into each other's eyes with an "I love you".

We talk every couple days, email and see each other at least three times a week, I only live 10 minutes from the farm now.

He never judged, never criticized, always supported all 5 of us kids in all of our decisions. He is my biggest supporter to this day. We spoil each other like crazy.

We share so many common interests to this day, he's one of my best friends. We can laugh til we cry and cry til we laugh together.

He's my buddy and I am so looking forward to fixing all his favorite foods for him tomorrow and making him feel like a king.

I have been so very very blessed to have the parents that God gave me.
