As i lay my head down to sleep

Don't look into the closet darkness

I'm not afraid of that midnight creep

To keep my room bright

Another 8yrs straight

Friends talkin about girls & dates

For dinner I'm not supposed to be late

Being a teenager is great

But so many fakes

Before her door i stand in proper pose

Holding a rose

Hoping tonight I'll strike gold

Despite everything she's been told

My friends say you can't grow old

Without striking gold

Another 8yrs unfold

My 8yr old tells me I'm old

He tells me kids use laptops that fold

And Desktops are as old as scrolls

Another 8yrs I'm thirty two

My teenage boy hasn't a clue

What the term "Making the rent" means to me & you

With his friend's talkin about girls & dates

It's not to late

To set things straight

Before he goes on a date

Another 8yrs my bones a little they ache

Lines on my face getting clearer

When i look in the mirror

Listening to softer music suits me just fine

Gives me a chance to unwind

As i sit in my lazy-boy & recline

Sipping a glass of wine

After a dinner dined

Corona Tequila with lime

On occasion is fine

But this time

The Taxi will worry about the street signs

Can't wait to get home to Bump-N-Grind

With this beautiful wife of mine

Another 8yrs & Doc Say's I'm kinda blind

Glasses I'll need in do time

I'm now forty eight

My sons wife is great

Never calling if it's to late

The breakfast at IHOP was great

Color in my hair starting to fade

Wife loves buying jewelry made of jade

The jadeite kind

Another 8yrs & i feel fine

I swear if this keeps up I'll make it to ninety nine
