Ok, I hate to even put this here but since I didn't see an alternative here it is.

I'd like to see how much we actually know about one another. Has a philosophical idea from a belief system you don't ascribe to in whole helped you, or maybe, a belief system youd like to learn more about from the horses mouth? Maybe something to research...

For example: I enjoy reading about world religion and philosophy and the Hindu philosophy of "pairs of opposites," struck home and influenced how I deal with bipolar disorder. For me, it boils down to acceptence of what is as opposed to being tossed on the ups and downs of life.

Is there any way we can speak about one another in a positive manner? I'd really like to learn something.

Well, I don't subscribe to any kind of Theism at all but having read the Holy Books of several different religions, Christian and non Christian, I have been happy to adopt some of the ideological lessons that I found, such as tolerance, kindness, helping and protecting those weaker than yourself, and compassion for all living creatures. One lesson that I adhere to very strongly is to respect people and treat them as you would like them to treat you.
Now all of that doesn't mean that I don't sometimes act like a total horses ass but I Do try...if that counts for anything. If it doesn't count for anything...Meh! I've lived like this for too long to be bothered to change now... laugh

I'd start a philosophy room up with the coffeehouses but it'd likely end up here anyway.laugh

bigsullivan54 - Is that like a "Pay it forward" sort of thing or something different?

I'd kinda like a place for people to relax and let their hair down without having to segregate.flowerforyou Toss a few ideas around, have fun. I'm going to bed, g'night all.

And so, after exposing four open minds (not counting mwa), the open minds thread drops into obscurity.

Boneyjoe's right, what was I thinking?laugh

On the run, just breezing through.

Just wanted to say, I've spent a good deal of my 'spare' time researching, studying and discussing belief systems.

I have discovered many things and one of the most important ideas is this.

Where there is BELIEF there is a closed door. Whether it gets locked and bolted is whether the belief is an open ended philosophy.

So now I knock of those doors and I question and if interesting discussion is returned I have found an open mind.

Anyone else agree!

have a great - gotta run now.
