Topic: Punk is still not dead... | |
---|---|
Now fueled with new wave and dance elements, punk has returned to the American popular consciousness once again. What does it mean to us old schoolers who started the genre? Do these new hybrid punk artists have the right to play this music? Im not sure how I feel about all this...anyone got a comment or two???

I like some of the new stuff out, it's new and different in a lot of ways and has the punk attitude and soul. But some of it is just too pop like. And while they lable themselves punk they will forever be known in my heart as some of the biggest and most attrocious posers of all the posers.

The evolution of punk is one of the most miraculous things... Their are the bull sh*t wannabe scene kids yes, but all in all if you take the time to look their are still legit punks around.... Plus, some of the doors that have been opened to everyone alike by the original punk artists, just look at Rancid, ska, skate, street, grind, and even a lil core thrown in their and yes they are not a number 1 on billboard, but i know very few people who don't know em (granted pretty much everyone I know are the people i go see punk shows with) |
