Topic: Does your sexuality define you?

Are you defined by your sexuality or is your sexuality just a part of your character?

I could not choose to be sexually attracted to another man.

So sexuality is not a choice for me, therefore it is not part of my character. I'm innately sexually attracted only to women.

So I guess then, my answer to your question is that my sexuality is innate to who I am and is not a part of my 'character'.

But that's just me.

Obviously some people are bi-sexual. Clearly they have a choice to be attracted to either sex. However, they could still argue that they are innately attracated to both sexes. If that's true then why should they have to choose which instinct to act on?

Especially if they don't believe that ancient books are the word of God? Why should they feel that there is anything wrong with doing what comes natural to them and feels right for them?

The only way you could pass judgment on their 'character' is to compare their behavior against the words in an ancient book that claims to speak for God but contains so many contraditions that everyone is not convinced that it could even be the word of any supreme being.

Do people choose to be intelligent? Do people choose to be neat or messy? Do people choose to be creative? Do some people choose to like comic books, while others think they are for children? Does anyone choose to be a coward or brave? Does anyone choose to be greedy? What exactly does choice have to do with character? Isn't character a result of biological and environmental factors, just like sexuality? Aren't you arguing that sexuality is the defining part of a person simply because you feel it makes Christians appear as biggots?

Who said anything about judging? Only you. You have issues, very deep issues, about being "judged". It verges on paranoia. Nearly every post by a Christian is a plot to judge someone in your mind. That's very strange and obviously not true.

If you lost your sex drive tomorrow, you would still be the same person, but minus your sex drive? Or is your sexuality the lynchpin that holds you personality and character together?

a part of my character... and big part of my character

How would your life change if you completely lost your sex drive? Would life be worth living?

laugh laugh laugh Of course it would. Do you think sex is the only good thing in life?

Because sex is a big part of my character, my life would probably simplify greatly if I lost my sex drive. It tends to get me in trouble.blushing

I tend to agree. I am old enough that I am not bothered by an annoying sex drive. Most of my sex drive is in my imagination and in my mind. My body does not seem very interested. laugh laugh laugh Of course their aren't many studs in this corral either, so we fillies (or should I say old mares) just tend to put our attention on the grass.laugh
