why do men say they are into you, and then all of a sudden disappear? or why do they claim you are so cute/pretty/beautiful in emails and then never want to meet? now this could go the other way around as well, but all i know is from a female perspective.

This is the net. Expact anything to happen.

Have you been reading my diary? huh Thanks for posting this, actually -- it's comforting to know others have experienced the same thing and that maybe, just maybe it's not 'me' that's doing something 'wrong' and causing people to float in and out of my life. I used to think I was a good judge of character, but this mode of communication can really make you question yourself! ohwell

I've heard a thousand times that 'it's the internet, what did you expect?' -- and while I understand this format can be a feeding ground for disingenuos people, I don't want to force myself to be distrusting of others' intentions. I want to be able to take people's kindness at face value - in the same way that I extend it. Okay, quit rolling your eyes and smirking, everyone ... I know what you're thinking 'Girl, take off the rose coloured glasses already!!' embarassed

These are tough lessons for people who wear their hearts on their sleeves ... am I right? ohwell

I think I'll adopt that as my new mantra ... and save myself the risk of carpal tunnel syndrome for nothin'!

i had a guy i talked to for seriously a YEAR.. and everytime i mentioned meeting up he would "dissapear" for a month or so.. and always come back.. he told me he was scared that i wouldn't like him blah blha.. my guess.. he had a gf on the side or something.. or just really likes getting attention to help him with his low selfesteem

I've had that happen, its so irritating. I have a similar situation. I talked to a guy online who lived relatively close for over a year, talked to him on the phone a lot. Every time HE'D say he wanted to meet up he'd never show. Eventually I just gave him my address and said if he felt like droppin by, he could find me pretty easily cus I wasn't wasting my time waiting for him at places anymore. So here I am, about to move BACK to Arkansas in a very short time. He'd ASKED me to stay with him til I find a place there, even offered to help us move. Where is he now? Your guess is good as mine cus I ain't heard from him in 2 weeks...lol. Nor do I care, life is too short to sweat the small stuff.

Wow ... I'm really sorry that you went through all that -- but I love your ability to shrug it off and keep moving forward. It's both reassuring and motivating ... thanks! drinker

Aww thanksflowerforyou

I really just am so used to crap like that it doesnt' even phase me anymore. I pretty much expect it...lol. I'll be surprised when someone actually does what they say they will. In the meantime I'm plenty happy without all the drama that tends to come with relationships.

LOL, I have a feeling he was just chicken sh!t. He's a 21 year old guy who, until he met me, dated girls who were all newly 18 and had no direction and no idea what they wanted. I think he likes the naive girls who don't know how to be in a relationship...lol. I pretty much figure that the idea of a strong woman with goals in her life scared the crap out of him.
