it happened in WW1 and WW2 all the time, or they would meet once, and keep that love strong until they met again sometimes up to 40 years later....believe it!!!

I think it's more of falling in love with the idea of love than anything

i understand why people in military fall in and marry quick.I just think people on here should at least wait till they meet until thinking they r in

"internet love"
such a grand fantastical thing!! |

You answered it in the question 'they think' Yep..its not really love...but more an infatuation w/each other..a crush..because w/o meeting a person face to face..u cannot really get a real "vibe" from a person..which I think is part of falling in love..but the crush is definitly a good start..;) |

The same reason two people can go across country to f*** and think that they are
|
|
|
|
Well-scripted e-mails, phone calls placed when one is feeling like 'reaching out', avoiding encounters when one is feeling less than his/her best and sharing only what one wishes...not the best foundation for 'love'...but it can plant a seed, I hope.
It is with the face to face encounter, when the object of your 'love' no longer has an 'off button'...when the interaction can't be edited...when circumstances are not ideal & orchestrated - then 'love' has a chance to either grow or wither. You just can't fit the entirety of a person into such narrow confines...and when loving, you have to accept the whole person. Yikes! Verbose this morning, aren't I...sorry |

Why not? Some countries still have arranged marriages. 200 years ago, sometimes even later it was common for men to write home to somewhere in Europe to find a wife. In fact I know someone, recently widowed, who came to this country that way.
I think that perhaps a relationship could possibly have a better chance of getting off the ground if both parties are honest and express themselves clearly and truthfully in their correspondence, maybe better than if they were to meet right off since when they do meet they will have a much better idea of what to expect. |
