That's true, ya don't know, but what would it take for you to trust someone at least enough to meet-up?

I have to disagree , the world is a different place these days.

Actually that was a question. The world is different, but we can't all just sit-it-out.

Do you ever really know? Seriously, how many of us (guys and girls alike) have been duped by someone we've met face to face. Someone that we're introduced to by friends or family, someone we meet at work or school or on the street? There never really is a "for sure". Sorry to sound pessimistic...I'm trying to be more realistic. Life and love are both a big game of chance...sometimes to bet red and it lands on red....more likely that not it lands on black...

i usually ask for phone #, address and photo. Then I tell them my son is a police officer( he is) if they are flakes they disapear real fast. I also try to check them out on line. Mostly I meet them in very public places. I trust as far as humanly possible. But in a very gaurded way.

Nobody says you have to sit it out, but I think your thinking of times past, you have to be on point more than ever these days!!

I'll agree with that. So, what are some of your big red flags?

Some good advice there.

I usually also let some friends or family know who I am meeting, which site I met them on, where I am meeting, what time I am expected back.

I don't think this is pessimistic, but rather rather realistic.

I guess what I want to know, what about a person's profile makes you suspicious?

I used to trust much more quickly than I do now since I was talking to a funny, nice man on a widowed site I go to. Turns out he is a registered sex offender. Guess I thought if Any site was safe it would have been that one. noway

All you need is a first and last name. That's how I found out about the sex offender that contacted me from another dating site. Course, I knew he was from Virginia so that helped. But even if I didn't know the state, it wouldn't bother me in the least to go through every state's sex offender registry to protect myself.
