Why does negativity sell, as proven by the news, and good news is no news......why is it that people passion for bad news? It makes no sense.

because a story about new speed-bumps in front of the local school isnt going to attract a lot of viewers and that translates to no sponsors...$$$$$...thats what decides the news..

I haven't watched the news in a long time. Got tired of hearing all the bad. I don't even like to be around people that are negative or constantly complain about their life.

And anything I want to learn about life I can learn right here on the religion or politics forum.

I've been a paramedic in the middle of the bad news. Human suffering and loss of life should not be considered entertainment. I sometimes get down as well when I think about those who somehow enjoy hearing about it.

That's a good one!! There are some who just "get-off" when they see or hear a juicy news story. Look at your local news at 6. The first 12-15 minutes it's either about cop killing, rape, house fire, political scandal, drug bust, school shooting. Then the weather - which half the time is wrong. Then sports. Then the feel good story how fluffy the cat dialed 911 and saved grandma from the fire....

It's because news has turned into a kind of soap opera- the story isn't worth reading if it doesn't have some form of scandal or other form of drama in it. Whether the story has to do about Britney's losing her kids while having a psychotic episode, or the latest tit-for-tat exchange between two government leaders, drama sells while stories that might actually make you feel GOOD about yourself just won't.

we like to know somebody is worse off then ourselves! human nature is if your happy we all should be happy. if our life sucks we want every body's life to suck. bigsmile
