After the injury you are supposed to do ice for 24 to 36 hours. Then switch to heat, and take an NSAID the whole time.

Both...alternating...every 20 min. You're right, although sometimes the doctors will say that initially cold for the first 24 hours to take the swelling down, then heat, but I've always found that alternating, BUT using more cold if there's alot of swelling is the best route to go. |

Thanks everyone You're welcome. I would strongly suggest going to WebMD and checking it out before you put heat on an injury with swelling in the first 24 to 36 hours, okay? |
