So I start talking about how sentencing needs to take into account the likelihood of reoffending, the prison system, the limitations in all this, and the overall safety of society versus punishment and retribution.

I point out that it is the ODRC... R is for Rehabilitation and C is Corrections. Why would the death penalty (Which he was ALL for) or even life in prison be economically justified?

I told him he was not seeing the bigger picture.

He starts spouting that the money was well worth it and he did not care about all that.

Now mind you, he is ANGRY. Hostile. Belligerent. He was totally incapable of having a rational conversation.

Maybe it was the three bottles of cologne he was wearing that made him irritated?

So I asked him if he had the facts about welfare fraud versus other government funds. He did not.

I asked him to back up his statement about IQ tests being only for kids. He could not.

He said, "I don't want to argue with you". Nope. He didn't. But he did argue, while I was just trying to discuss it. He wanted me to sit there and gaze at him and say... "You are right".

Isn't it okay to have different opinions and discuss them, to learn other perspectives and hopefully gain mutual knowledge or insight?

So I said, "I'm going to go". I did offer to pay for my beverage, but he declined. So I left and called Lily...

I swear this is one of the top ten WORST dates ever. This dude was upset.
