Is it just me or isn't it just plain old courtesy to send a reply?
Even if you are not interested. How hard is it to send someone "Thanks but no thanks."

I truly don't understand why so many of you people are concerned about getting a response back (especially, a Thanks, but no thanks).. NO response means the same thing. Why should we have to waste our time writing to someone we're not interested in, when we could be taking that time to write to someone we are interested in.. just a thought smokin

keep in mind that the more attractive women on here get 30-40 generic e-mails a day. they can't answer them all.

I personally don't have this problem, so I answer all of my e-mails. But I have heard.

I think its called manners..or at least its called manners in our day. Not too many younger people seem to show those to anyone.

If you got 50 e-mails a day from guys saying"hey cutie" would you take time out of your life to answer them all?

This I understand as well.. it's one thing to respond kindly in Thanks to "friendly approaches" and it's another to feel obligated to send to those who have no clue how to approach a female (even with a friendly Hello in an email). However, I have it stated in my profile that I may or may not respond, because of what's being discussed here..
Oh well.. what's a girl/guy to do (we can't be right all the time).
Hopefully, my upcoming meeting ends in commitment bigsmile and then I won't have to worry about all this anymore blushing

But at least you did answer and showed some manners. Those we can all relate to.

I absolutely would!

There is no such thing as "wasting time". Time is constant, you can not waste it or save it. So make the best of it.

I don't think spending your time writing to people you have no interest in is making the best of it. If you only have time to respond to, say, 10 e-mails a day, why not spend that time talking to people you are actually interested in? Or should you respond to the ones who send out 100 scattershot messages in the hopes of getting a reply and ignore the people you really want to talk to? It makes no sense at all. Most people do not have unlimited time to spend on e-mail. They have to make it count.

I hear what you are saying.
But if you have a mutual match with someone doesn't it make sense to contact them. I don't cast out a net of several emails hoping I get a bite.
I guess that is more to the point I am trying to make.
I agree responding to "Hey Cutie" is not a good use of time. But if someone matches and takes the time to write a decent email, don't you think you should take the time to respond?

Perhaps. I have only gotten one of my mutual matches to answer back to me; and he was just being polite. The rest of them ignore me and I just delete them. It doesn't bother me if they ignore me. No answer is the same as an answer if the answer is "not interested." I don't spend any of my time speculating about the quality of their manners.

I reply to ones that make an effort. If I can tell they've read my profile (ie mentioned a few things from there or asked questions based on what they've read), I'll respond. I have responded back to hi how are you before my just saying I'm good and yourself.
